Bayad trains educators and students to become smart and responsible money managers

Bayad, the country’s trusted authority in payments, understands that financial management is a key life skill that everyone should develop. Learning all about money - how to earn, budget, save, and grow it is essential to lead Filipinos to a path of financial wellbeing and resilience.

As such, Bayad partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Marylindbert International to roll out the Sapat Dapat Comprehensive School Program, a curriculum based financial literacy advocacy designed to equip teachers from the CALABARZON and Cebu regions with financial know-how learnings in student workbooks, modules and teaching guides. The end goal is to help educators to be able to competently impart to students knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions in the future.

Recently, Bayad mounted the Sapat Dapat "Quarantraining", a virtual training session gathering more than 600 attendees composed of DepEd regional directors and superintendents as well as school principals, teachers, and students.

During the session, Bayad shed light on financial management concepts and how to be smart and responsible money managers. They were also introduced to e-wallets, cashless and contactless transactions, and digital financial activities that can be done through the Bayad mobile app.

Bayad President and CEO Lawrence Ferrer expressed, “Financial literacy is life changing and we are making an effort to bring this important learning to more Filipinos especially teachers and students. We want them to be ready for a tech-driven future where everything, including financial transactions can be done online and through mobile phones. As we continue to innovate financial products and services, it is incumbent on us to ensure that end users also know how to make the most of them.”

The Sapat Dapat advocacy program will run for the whole SY 2021-2022 with culminating activities like Sapat Dapat Quizbee, and awarding of Sapat Dapat Best Student, Teacher, and School. Participating educators will also receive Continuing Professional Development certificates.

Bayad sees this program to be a critical component of its mission to elevate the financial experience of Filipinos. Currently, Bayad is the biggest and widest multi-channel payment platform in the country with over 90,000 payment touchpoints nationwide. In the digital space, it is present through the Bayad App and, Bayad Online.  Bayad also powers the financial capabilities of the country’s leading e-wallets, online retailers, banks and government entities.
