REVIEW Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu - Is This The Way?

It has been years since we had a cinematic experience of the Star Wars universe, and the moment that they did, it was based on the series that they had in streaming called “The Mandalorian.” Though many fans have followed the seasons of the highly rated series, there are still a lot that would come in blind when this film comes out, and I am one of them.  I wanted to experience it from the perspective of a non-series viewer. And so far, it was not bad at all.

This new adventure between the Mandalorian and Grogu is not something of galactical proportions but a side quest that is still linked to the battle of the new republic and the empire. It seems that we can’t believe that Pedro Pascal is starring in this because we (almost) never got to see his face, as it is forbidden to Mandalorian culture. And we also have the star of the show, Grogu or as many would call him before, “Baby Yoda.” His charm is irresistible even when he is into the messiest predicaments, no one can ever resist his small steps, cute jumps, and the way he handles the force. They are indeed an unexpected pair up yet works well to the charm of the movie and series.

Now expanding to new territories, the team does work for the New Republic which is still at war with the Empire and has remnants into vast places like the Outer Rim. We get to know more about the infamous crime family of the Hutts and an underground syndicate that runs illegal activities on the planet Shakari.  The fights are fun, yet the chase scenes are very entertaining. There is also a spotlight on Grogu that is quite sad yet heartwarming, and when the heroes bond together, it means action is coming soon.

For someone like me new to the Mandalorian story, it was indeed fun and interesting which sparked my interest to check out the series and know more about the lore. Grogu indeed stole the show and knows that merch for him will indeed sell a lot. Now that they have entered the Star Wars film roster, a possible sequel is foreseeable yet it also depends on their executives if being a streaming series or movie is still the way.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is now showing in PH cinemas.
