Ant-Man and the Wasp - Smaller and Bigger at the Same Time!

We may still be recovering from Infinity War, but to fill that void is the last MCU movie of 2018, Ant-Man and the Wasp. Bringing the team up of Ant-Man Scott Lang and now Hope Van Dyne now suited up as the Wasp are together for a new mission and disovery.

The timeline close and within the infinity war corridor it will provide answers to their connection to the "Snapocalyse". But before that they have to battle a new foe, and discover the secrets and power of the quantum realm which Scott has been to in the first movie. This calls for the throwback team up of the original Ant-Man and the Wasp which is Hank and Janet.

One of the villain they have to face is Ghost who can phase through almost everything, something they were not prepared for. There is also the appearance of Bill Foster also known as Goliath who also used a super suit to become "Giant Man". And there will be a lot of shrinking and expanding in this  movie which was also a hit with the first one. Based on the trailer, there is huge salt shaker and Hello Kitty Pez which was hilariously amazing.

REEL DEAL: The LEGO Ninjago Movie

This is actually the second LEGO movie for the year where in we had the LEGO Batman Movie early this year. Like the LEGO movies, it aims to be comedic and creative as possible. The LEGO Ninjago Movie is derived from the toy series of the same title which is also called "Masters of Spinjustu".

Playful in nature, yet the film has a different feel compared with the first LEGO movies. The Ninja team is composed of  Nya, Zane, Jay, Cole, Kai, and Lloyd who are sworn to protect the city of Ninjago, The team are expert martial artists, bad-ass mech pilots, and also attends school when the city is not on the brink of destruction.

Jackie Chan also joins the movie providing martial arts expertise with his team along with the animators. He also voices Master Wu, who is the mentor of the Ninja team. Justin Theroux is Garmadon the main villain and the father of Lloyd, the green ninja.

If you watched the TV animated series, you will enjoy this one as it is filled with humor, nostalgia and fast-paced action. I really liked the Ninja Mechas which are in my wishlist for Christmas. Thus, the movie is great marketing tool as well.

REEL DEAL: CHiPs REVIEW

Police/CIA comedy has been way overused by Hollywood, which is probably the biggest challenge of the latest film by Dax Shephard who wrote and directed his latest comedy CHIPS with Michael Peña.

Based on the 70s - 80s series, the film brings the combination of the two actors into an operation which is hindered by their own personal dilemmas. One is a divorced cop who is trying to win back his ex-wife and the other is a sex addict who goes undercover for the California Highway patrol. The two eventually are teamed up to protect the streets yet take a detour to take care of CIA work.

Dax Shepard directs, writes and stars in the film which I think is too much and may have gravely affected the film. Despite his expertise on action and film making, the movie could have been better in a lot of ways. However I still like Michael Peña for his role here which he played good, however there are parts of his lines or jokes which I think is a regional reference, which is quite hard to laugh about.

Michael Pena, a Sex-Addicted Undercover Cop in "CHIPS"

He recently starred in two films that crossed the $500 million mark at the worldwide box-offce: the heist film Ant-Man and the acclaimed sci-fi rescue drama The Martian. Now, Michael Peña is out to make audiences laugh as Ponch in Warner Bros. Pictures' new adult action comedy CHIPS.

In the film, Jon Baker (Dax Shepard) and Frank “Ponch” Poncherello (Peña) have just joined the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Los Angeles, but for very different reasons. Baker is a beaten-up former pro motorbiker trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job—inside the CHP.

Sex, Drugs & Highway Patrol in New Comedy "CHIPS"

What happens when you team up a former X-Games star with a busted-up body and a painkiller habit, and an over-sexed undercover Fed with too much confidence, give them each a badge and a bike and set them loose on the sun-baked highways of Southern California?

CHIP happens.

More to the point, if you’re writer/director Dax Shepard, you deliver CHIPS, a buddy cop comedy loaded with enough action, stunts and hard-R humor to push it to the legal limit.

Buddy Comedy "CHiPs" First Trailer Hits the Road

Dax Shepard (TV’s Parenthood) and Michael Peña (The Martian, Ant-Man) star in Warner Bros. Pictures’ action comedy CHiPs. Shepard also directs from a script he penned based on the characters from the popular ‘70s television series created by Rick Rosner.

Watch the film's first trailer at https://youtu.be/oshELKf16wo that's just been released by Warner Bros.

Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job—inside the CHP.

The inexperienced rookie and hardened pro are teamed together, but clash more than click, so kickstarting a partnership is easier said than done. But with Baker’s bike skills combined with Ponch’s street savvy it might just work…if they don’t drive each other crazy along the way.

Also starring are Rosa Salazar (Insurgent), Adam Brody (Think Like a Man Too), Kristen Bell (Frozen), and Vincent D’Onofrio (Jurassic World).

Opening across the Philippines on Thursday, March 23, “CHiPs” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company.

REEL DEAL: The Martian REVIEW

Sci-fi movies are back and it is time for more space exploration. The last space journey was with Interstellar and Jupiter Ascending,  but this time it comes to a very close predicament to today's time as well as the technology with THE MARTIAN.

The Martian is based on the book of Andy Weir in 2011. Directed by Ridley Scott and stars Matt Damon as Mark Watney who is part of the Mars exploration team called Ares III, the team left the planet due to bad weather but Mark was left because he was presumed to be dead. However he managed to live but faces the challenge of living in the deserted red planet.

If it will be compared with the all-alone situation stories, this is the most complicated. Unlike being on a island, dessert of mountain, Mars is not a friendly territory. The pressure and temperature are still far to support life. To survive, he must use and keep his resources intact and produce his food. Yes there will be science and technology in this film, but it is simplified into actions and not words beyond space.

Jessica Castain In Command In Ridley Scott's Immersive 3D Spectacle "THE MARTIAN"

Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain, who’s also considered as one of the most sought after actresses of her generation who gave memorable portrayals in groundbreaking movies such as “Interstellar,” “Zero Dark 30” and  “Tree of Life” stars in Ridley Scott’s space adventure “The Martian” with Matt Damon, Kate Mara, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Peña, Sebasyian Stan, Aksel Hennie, Kirsten Wiig, Jeff Daniels and Sean Bean.

Based on the highly successful book by Andy Weir, “The Martian” tells of the gripping story of botanist Mark Watney, played by Damon in the film.   Watney is one of the six-man crew of the Ares 3, an exploratory fact finding mission to Mars that goes radically wrong when the astronauts are caught in the middle of a ferociously violent sandstorm. As the crew scramble to get back on board their ship, Watney is speared by an antenna - leaving him injured and destroying his space suit’s bio monitors in the process.
