"Rampage" Tears Across Competition to Take #1 at PH Box-Office

“Rampage,” starring Dwayne Johnson, tore across Philippine theatres, grossing a four-day weekend total of P59.7-million at the box office. The announcement was made today by Francis Soliven, General Manager of Warner Bros. Philippines.

Thrilling audiences with its epic scope, cutting-edge visual effects, over-the-top action sequences and stunts, rampaging monsters, and unexpected humor and heart, the new action-adventure gave WB Philippines its biggest opening of the year todate, outgrossing last month's “Tomb Raider.”

Rampage - Wrecking Its Own Destruction

Big  does not always means better.

We know that size matters but depending on what is big. Definitely if you have animals that are almost the size of Godzilla on the loose, there should be something that they can destroy. That is why we have Rampage.

Based on the computer game, which the main objective - go berserk and destroy all things in its path. Had made its way to its own Hollywood version and starring the highest paid actor of recent years, Dwayne Johnson.

We have seen him recently in Jumanji and having another movie with him headlining again confuses us if this is San Andreas meets King Kong. And it seems we will always see him in roles that is tied to the military or the police because of his appearance.

Well the film in summary is about animals exposed to a gene altering serum which makes them ginormous and out to make rampage on a city. The challenge is how to stop them comes at the cost with many weapons and property damage.

Global icon Dwayne Johnson headlines the action adventure “Rampage,” directed by Brad Peyton.

Johnson stars as primatologist Davis Okoye, a man who keeps people at a distance but shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, incredibly rare albino silverback gorilla who has been in his care since he rescued the young orphan from poachers. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size.

Q&A With Oscar-Nominee and "Rampage" Star Naomie Harris

Although she’s appeared as Moneypenny in three James Bond movies, Oscar nominee Naomie Harris (Moonlight) shares the her latest film, New Line Cinema's epic action film, Rampage, was far from an obvious match for her.

“I’m more of an indie film person,” she adds. “However, I absolutely loved the script. It’s rare to see a film like this infused with so much heart.”

In Rampage, primatologist Davis Okoye (Dwayne Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals. As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer (Naomie Harris) to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan freed up some time from his busy schedule on TV's The Walking Dead, so he can star opposite Dwayne Johnson in New Line Cinema's epic adventure Rampage (in Philippine cinemas Thursday, April 12).
