Bolt of Talent, FOX Networks Group’s highly anticipated original singing competition hosted by award-winning American singer-songwriter and pop culture icon Michael Bolton aired its premiere episode last August 16 at 9:30 PM on Star World with the Philippines opening the season.

Guided with the principles of celebrating music and undiscovered talents, Michael Bolton travelled all the way to the Philippines to scout for up and coming singers with the help of Morissette Amon, one of the Philippine’s hottest young artist today. Starworld Hosts American Idol Season 13 Viewing Party

January means mire than just the new year, it is also the starting month of one of America's favorite reality show which is now on iths 13th year. American Idol premiered their pilot episode internationally with channels like Starworld as one of exclusive stations to air the series.

The truth is I was not much of an Idol fan back then, I think that the show was not much different from other singing competition but the thirteenth season of America's favorite singing show had made an interesting turn of events.

Last season was a year of egos fierce with the obvious conflict from two Diva Mariah Carey and Hiphop sensation Nicky Minaj. The contestants were good but they also fell into some cat fights between the two with opposing views and controversial statements. With that there was a faction of who is on Team Mariah or Team Nicki.

If you ask me, I'm going with Nicky Minaj because she may be young but has achieved a lot and proved to be a worthy artist that is never afraid of being normal to show musicality and innovation. Mariah is also a great diva with her timeless songs, great voice and hot body at her age definitely is worthy of an idol judge slate.

Now I am expecting a lot from the new set of judges as I, in the past years, grew less of a fan of the previous seasons because there wasn't something new. This season might actually be a saving grace to pioneer singing reality show of the US. The premiere of the new season goes full swing with its live telecast on Starworld.

The Philippines is facing an alarming rise in HIV infection. Six new infections are recorded everyday, an exponential leap from the ‘low and slow’ character of the epidemic before 2007. There are also reports of undocumented HIV-related deaths, a manifestation of the invisibility of the epidemic and its impact. Evidence indicates that the increase is driven by the lack of awareness and appreciation of the risks of HIV infection due to unprotected sex, which is aggravated by fear and stigma that surround the virus and the people living with HIV and AIDS. 


The Red Whistle Campaign is a response to this alarming situation. The emerging trend shows that the current prevention programs are insufficient, and the communities affected by the epidemic must be mobilized into action to support initiatives that aim to stop the epidemic.
