Battle for Survival unfolds in Protégé's first elimination night this Sunday

After the nerve-wracking announcement of the Bottom 10 during the first battle night, the showdown for survival will happen this Sunday (August 19) as the ten protégés will perform on stage for a talent face-off against their own teammate.

One of the biggest events in the competition will unfold in the first elimination night as five of the 10 protégés will leave the battle stage at the end of the show. Two protégés from each region will clash for a spot in the Top 15.

U.K.’s sexiest boy band, THE WANTED, has sent their Filipino fans into an online frenzy for the past couple of weeks with the announcement of their first Manila concert this September 14 at NBC Tent, Taguig City. The JEDWARD twins are back to bring us the Jedward paradox once again with the release of their newest album, “Young Love”. The album debuted at number one on the Irish Albums Chart, thus becoming the twins' third consecutive album to debut at the top spot of their home country's album chart. It also debuted at number 63 on the United Kingdom Albums Chart, with sales of 2,241 copies in the country during its first week of release.  

Jedward comprises identical twins John and Edward Grimes (born 16 October 1991 in Dublin, Ireland). Widely known for their blond quiffs, they first appeared as John & Edward in the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009, generating a phenomenon described as "the Jedward paradox". They finished sixth and are now managed by Louis Walsh, who was their mentor during The X Factor.

Mark Herras delights kids at GMA volunteer event

Kapuso star Mark Herras brightened up the day of Caritas Manila’s beneficiaries when he graced GMA G.I.V.E.S. (Guide, Interact, Volunteer, Educate, Serve) 2nd Salu-Salo Together, a gathering of the Network’s volunteer employees held recently. The event, spearheaded by GMA Corporate Affairs, aims to strengthen volunteerism among the Network’s employees. GMA G.I.V.E.S. members and GMA Kapuso Foundation donated school bags with school supplies to the kids.

Mikael Daez and Andrea Torres topbill GMA-7’s Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga remake

Following the success of Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin, GMA-7 recreates another one of its very own masterpieces with the upcoming remake of Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga. The original version ran for two successful years, and still remains as one of GMA’s most popular teledramas to this day.

In the modern version, promising Kapuso stars Mikael Daez and Andrea Torres will breathe new life to the roles previously portrayed by Dingdong Dantes and Tanya Garcia.

“Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga became very popular when it first aired 10 years ago at time when viewers were starting to notice GMA’s primetime offerings.  The show opened many doors for its original lead stars, and we’re hoping that the new version will do the same for Mikael and Andrea,” says SAINN program manager Hazel Abonita.

Mikael, who completed his bachelor’s degree in Business Management at the Ateneo de Manila University, worked as a part-time commercial and print ad model for several prominent local brands before joining showbiz full time.
