Freeman, Caine, Arkin to Headline Comedy "Going in Style"‏

Production is now underway on location in New York City on the New Line Cinema comedy “Going in Style,” directed by Zach Braff (“Garden State”) and starring Oscar winners Morgan Freeman (“Lucy”), Michael Caine (“The Dark Knight”) and Alan Arkin (“Argo”).

Freeman, Caine and Arkin team up as lifelong buddies Willie, Joe and Al, who decide to buck retirement and step off the straight-and-narrow for the first time in their lives when their pension fund becomes a corporate casualty. Desperate to pay the bills and come through for their loved ones, the three risk it all by embarking on a daring bid to knock off the very bank that absconded with their money.

Art interrupted with Lopez Museum's Open Ends exhibit

What happens when art and art-making are interrupted? Is an unfinished work still worthy of display? Why would a work with no perfunctory conclusion deserve a second look?

Open Ends, the second exhibition offering of the Lopez Museum and Library for 2015, highlights a collection of rarely seen studies, sketches, and unfinished paintings by Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo. These works are a segment of the collection that will resurface after more than a decade long hiatus – well-kept and in storage. Often overshadowed by the higher-profiled Juan Luna, Hidalgo’s works reflect his quieter temperament, of an artist that is often only spoken of when referring to the tandem. Their contribution to Philippine Art is more than the laurels and distinctions they garnered in the historic Exposition win in 1884. Hidalgo and Luna were at the forefront of the development of Filipino nationhood and it was through their art that they attempted to make sense of this personal and higher struggle.

Director Wes Ball is once again at the helm of the second instalment “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” from which his first adaptation “The Maze Runner” grossed more than $340 million worldwide.   While “The Maze Runner” was about escape, “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” is about a journey.   Explains director Wes Ball, who returns for the next chapter:  “In this film, we learn there is a much bigger world waiting for Thomas and the Gladers, one that’s been ravaged by the sun and a deadly virus. These young people have to find their place in this world and figure out how they can fix it.  The Gladers are very valuable to several different groups, and they’re torn between saving the world and their personal freedom.”

"Hangover's" Ed Helms Goes on an Outrageous "Vacation"‏

One of the current generation's gifted onscreen comedians, Ed Helms (“The Hangover” trilogy’s hapless dentist Stu) makes his leading man debut as family man Rusty Griswold in New Line Cinema’s outrageous comedy “Vacation.”

In the film, we meet Rusty—a pilot for budget airline Econo Air—just as it’s dawning on him that all is not well in his Chicago abode. “It becomes clear to him very early on in the film that he's completely mistaken about this fantasy that he has the perfect family,” director and screenwriter John Francis Daley explains. “In fact, the kids really don’t look up to him. They don't get along at all, and his wife is not as happy as she could be in their marriage.”

Unlike anyone who has ever seen the original “Vacation,” Rusty has only glowing memories of that long ago trip to Walley World and thinks his own family could a dose of family bonding. “Rusty sort of has a case of selective memory,” director and screenwriter Jonathan Goldstein elaborates. “He’s somehow blocked out all the terrible things that happened on that trip, and thinks that if he can replicate that, all will be well with the Griswold family.”
