About “The Curse of La Llorona”

La Llorona.  The Weeping Woman.   A horrifying apparition, caught between Heaven and Hell, trapped in a terrible fate sealed by her own hand.  The mere mention of her name has struck terror around the world for generations.

In life, she drowned her children in a jealous rage, throwing herself in the churning river after them as she wept in pain.

Now her tears are eternal.  They are lethal, and those who hear her death call in the night are doomed.  La Llorona creeps in the shadows and preys on the children, desperate to replace her own.  As the centuries have passed, her desire has grown more voracious…and her methods more terrifying.

Slappy's the Star, Not a Dummy, in "Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween"

Moviemakers have lived by the belief that its biggest performers shouldn’t be wooden. But that’s a credo that could be thrown out the window when it comes to the unquestionable star of the Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween: Slappy the Ventriloquist Dummy. Who else could conjure dozens of monsters to wreak ridiculous havoc?

Slappy was first introduced in the 1993 Goosebumps book: Night of the Living Dummy.  R.L. Stine drew inspiration from other authors, including Ray Bradbury and Rod Sterling, but the real idea came from his memories watching a classic fright flick.  Stine says, “Sometime in my childhood I saw an old British movie called Dead of Night, which had three horror stories in it -- one of them was about a ventriloquist whose dummy comes to life and just takes over the ventriloquist’s life and ruins it. And I think was one of my inspirations for Slappy, remembering that old British movie.”

Rampant (2018) - Zombies In The Joseon Era

With the zombie genre getting too saturated with repeated themes and styles, here comes Rampant which brings a whole new perspective of zombies as they make rampage during the old days. Known to be the Joseon Era for Koreans, it is a period of tense politics, struggling stability and tension with the Royal family. Imagine the chaos when a zombie swarm starts to grow at that time.

Produced by Next Entertainment World, who also made the block buster "Train To Busan"takes another shot with the undead and this time having them in the past makes it an interesting story to tackle. Leading the cast is Hyun Bin as Lee Chung the prince who came home from Qing after hearing the news of his brother's death. But he loves Qing more than his home and not interested to be a successor of the King.

However a mysterious sickness has spread which makes the dead rise again and hungry for blood, and it is spreading fast. Prince Lee Chung finds himself trapped with the undead, the political turmoil, and family crisis which could also mean the downfall of the kingdom. Rampant just brought together the complexity of period films with the thrill and excitement of zombie movies. A refreshing concept, yet there still things it can improve on if ever there would be a sequel.

Let's Make #AyokoNgPlastik Literally and Figuratively Happen.

We can all agree that we hate (single-use) plastics that has already made a huge damage in the world. But solving this is not easy, but doable. We just need to lend our hands to make this idea a reality. WWF Philippines the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines, together with Ayala Malls and other partner corporations, recently launched the #AyokoNgPlastik movement at Glorietta 2 Activity Center.

With eight million tons of plastic ending up in oceans every year, the Philippines ranks as the world’s third plastic polluter of oceans. The #AyokoNgPlastik movement hopes to address these alarming facts by bringing together companies, individuals, and other sectors to minimize and eventually put a stop to single-use plastics such as straws, bags, bottles, and cups. Refusing these is a simple yet strong first step that individuals can take to commit to a sustainable lifestyle, especially since the harm that these materials cause directly affect humans.
