Margot Robbie Basks in the "Hollywood" Bygone Era in "Once Upon a Time"

In Quentin Tarantino’s critically acclaimed drama Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, Oscar-nominee Margot Robbie plays an idealized version of real-life 1960s ingenue Sharon Tate.  She is married to Roman Polanski, whose film Rosemary’s Baby has made him the hottest director in town; they’re on every party list, living the high life.

Set in 1969, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood recreates the time and place of Tarantino’s formative years, when everything – the United States, the city of Los Angeles, the Hollywood star system, even the movies themselves – was at an inflection point, and no one knew where the pieces would land.  All this is not entirely dissimilar from the changes buffeting Hollywood today.

At the center is Rick Dalton, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Rick had been the star of “Bounty Law,” a hit television series in the 50s and early 60s, but his prophesied transition to motion picture stardom never materialized. Now, as Hollywood moves towards a hippie aesthetic, Rick worries that his time has passed – and wonders if there’s still a chance for him.

Stein, the film tells the story of a 7 year-old girl named Chloe who grew up locked inside an secluded house with her father.

Being cut off from the outside world, she longs to go outside and meet and play with other people. However, it has got to do with their abilities that will be revealed as the story progresses. Her desire to go outside intensifies when a mysterious ice cream truck came to their neighborhood and gets in touch with her.

Mina-Anud - A Drug Movie Unlike The Others

There has been a lot of drug-inspired movies since Duterte was elected as President, and most of them are gritty, dark, and bloody which wants to depict the complicated and deadly world of drugs, cartels, and the market.

Mina-Anud comes at the time that people seems to be fed up of the same theme yet they want to present the situation in a whole new light. The movie brought an unusual pairing of fisherfolks, surfers, and cocaine. Though there was recent real life news of this happening on coastal provinces, the film wants to expand it into a story that will make it a movie worth watching for.

Starring Dennis Trillo, Jerald Napoles, and Matteo Guidicelli, the film was initially shown as a closing film at the recent Cinemalaya Film Festival. It is now showing in theaters nationwide via Regal Entertainment.

The plot of having surfers and fishermen getting involved in the drug trade has both a comedic and serious approach with their characters. It makes use of black comedy to portray satirical situations and the relationship of family and friends which invokes the Filipino feeling and complexity.
