Instituto Cervantes’ PELÍCULA-Spanish Film Festival unfolds from October 4 to 20

From October 4 to 20, the 17th edition of PELÍCULA, the Spanish Film Festival, will be featuring the best of contemporary Spanish cinema at Greenbelt 3, UP Diliman and Instituto Cervantes Intramuros. Presented by Instituto Cervantes, the Embassy of Spain, Turespaña, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), the 2018 edition of the Spanish Film Festival will screen more than 20 films.

"La La Land" Duo Gosling, Chazelle Re-teams for "First Man"

On the heels of their six-time Academy Award®-winning La La Land, Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for Universal Pictures’ First Man, the riveting story behind the first manned mission to the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the decade leading to the historic Apollo 11 flight.

A visceral and intimate account told from Armstrong’s perspective, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the film explores the triumphs and the cost—on Armstrong, his family, his colleagues and the nation itself—of one of the most dangerous missions in history.

Chazelle’s interest and stories continue to focus on the cost of achievement…and whether or not excellence is worth the price for those who reach.  Just as he reimagined the discipline of mentorship on the road to mastery in Whiplash—and deconstructed the movie musical in La La Land—Chazelle now challenges expectations of what a “mission picture” should resemble.  Discovering First Man alongside numerous collaborators, Chazelle approaches the film from interior angles in order to immerse audiences in this impossible journey.

Sol Searching - A Story Of Death, Farming, and Politics

For this year's TOFARM Film festival, it is quite a surprise that there are more bigger stars joining the festival bringing more exposure to the film and farm festival. And one of them is Pokwang who recently just gave birth and makes a comeback with the dark comedy Sol Searching.

Dealing with a death of teacher Sol in the rural town with a very complicated relationship with the school and family, her co-teacher comes in to give her at least a decent burial. But due to rifts, finances, and grudges, they are forced to find a place to set up the wake and 

Sol Searching starring Pokwang, Joey Marquez,  and Gilleth Sandico brings a mix of different kinds of comedy and drama to the table like the food we harvest. It opens a lot of realizations along with the laughs. Really great film that integrates farming education, and even politics.
