REEL DEAL: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - Ruffus Sewel SPOTLIGHT

RUFUS SEWELL PLAYS ÜBER-NASTY VAMPIRE IN “ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER”

Seth Grahame-Smith’s historical and mythical fruition “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” adapted into film by acclaimed filmmakers Timur Bekmambetov and Tim Burton introduces Honest Abe (played by Benjamin Walker), America’s 16th president as a vampire slayer who is pitted against Rufus Sewell’s Adam, the movie’s main vampire antagonist.

Adam’s character didn’t appear in the original book but, in the writing of the screenplay, evolved out of a need to create a key focus for Lincoln’s fight. Adam, played by Rufus Sewell, is a creature of almost limitless power.  “I see him as a kind of president of the vampires, “adds Sewell.

Author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith, who created the character especially for the film, as its central villain, was attracted to the idea of someone who has existed for untold millennia. “I wondered what it would be like to live for hundreds of thousands of years – to have been around since the building of the pyramids,” says Grahame-Smith.  “What kind of personality would emerge from that eternal existence?”

New Kapuso hunk Benjamin Alves nervous on first kissing scene

Benjamin Alves, the latest addition to GMA Network’s roster of stars, was presented to some members of the entertainment press today after he was officially welcomed to the Kapuso network on Sunday, June 24, in the afternoon musical variety program Party Pilipinas.

During the interview, Benjamin talked about his on-going movie project “Guni Guni,” a production of Regal Films slated to hit theatres this August.  He stars in the film alongside the beautiful and talented Kapuso actress Lovi Poe.

Asked about how it was working with Lovi, Benjamin was all-praises for the actress.

"Lovi is such a nice person.  I'm so lucky to have such a big [project] and to have Lovi as my leading lady.  She keeps me at ease.  The biggest adjustment for me was that I can't relax as normally as I can.  Seeing Lovi being relaxed, being down to earth and being someone that I can talk to, nakakagaan talaga ng loob," he said.

DREW BARRYMORE PLAYS “RACHEL” IN KEN KWAPIS’ BIG MIRACLE

Drew Barrymore embodies versatility, having added to her status as one of the film business’ most popular leading ladies by becoming a successful producer and director.

In her new movie Big  Miracle she plays Greenpeace activist Rachel Kramer. Rachel is what you would call an extremist. She will go to any lengths to stop big oil companies from harming the environment, including showing up uninvited at meetings with a bull horn. When Rachel (reporter Adam's ex-girlfriend) finds out about a family of trapped gray whales, she turns all of her attention to getting them freed.

Born in Culver City, California, into a revered family of actors that includes, among many others, her grandfather John Barrymore and grand-uncle Lionel Barrymore, she started performing in commercials before her first birthday.  At age six, she was chosen by director (and godfather) Steven Spielberg to co-star as Gertie in his (at the time) small-scale feature E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.  Once the film was released to overall acclaim in 1982, the young actress had instantly become a movie star.
