Filipino band the vowels they orbit speaks the language of longing in new EP, gusto ko lang maalala

The third EP offers a soft yet striking reminder that while moments fade, the feelings they leave behind stays forever

Filipino indie pop outfit the vowels they orbit (tvto) return with their third EP, gusto ko lang maalala—a delicate and nuanced exploration of love and loss, nostalgia, and remembering.

Following their sophomore release, tuloy tuloy tuloy!, which chronicled moments and survival amid the pandemic years, gusto ko lang maalala embraces reflection. It leans to the bittersweet nature of remembering: the realization that as time moves forward, what we once held dear and near can only be revised in fragments.

MANUAL REVIEWS: Bugonia - Is It Really Conspiracy?

Here is another collaboration film for Emma Stone and director Yorgos Lanthimos which has an interesting take of a South Korean film called “Save the Green Planet!” by Jang Joon-hwan. Bugonia as a dark comedy film has thrill embedded in the words and actions of the characters which keeps you guessing if they are right or wrong.

Jesse Plemons as Teddy Gatz indeed got my attention with their interactions and predicaments as the film progresses. The art film aesthetic of Yorgos gives its signature and makes it feel that it was different from the adapted film. The twists and dialogue are made impactful with the underlying social commentaries that we relate and react to.

BAFTA winner Mia McKenna-Bruce, Four-time Academy Award Nominee and Golden Globe Award winner Saoirse Ronan, Emmy and Golden Globe Award winning Anna Sawai, and Emmy Award nominee and BAFTA TV winner Aimee Lou Wood are confirmed to star in Sony Pictures, Sam Mendes, and Neal Street’s The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event.

McKenna-Bruce will star as Maureen (Cox) Starkey, Ronan as Linda (Eastman) McCartney, Sawai as Yoko Ono, and Wood as Pattie Boyd.

“Maureen, Linda, Yoko and Pattie are four fascinating and unique figures in their own right - and I’m thrilled that we’ve managed to persuade four of the most talented women working in film today to join this amazing adventure,” said Mendes.

Linda Eastman (Saoirse Ronan) was a celebrated photographer when she met Paul McCartney in 1967. There was an instant attraction and McCartney later said, ‘The first time I saw her, I just knew’.

John Lennon first met the Japanese artist Yoko Ono (Anna Sawai) at a London exhibition of her work. Although Lennon was married at the time, he was immediately intrigued by Yoko, and the two eventually became inseparable creative partners for the rest of his life.
