REEL DEAL MMFF 2013: Kmmy Dora (Ang Kiyemeng Prequel)

Kimmy and Dora Go Dong Hae are set to take us back to where it all started.

In 2009, the eloquent and adamant Kimmy and the very naive yet sweet Dora delighted everyone with a very hilarious and family-oriented blockbuster flick Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme. The exciting dual roles were portrayed by award-winning versatile actress, also tagged as “The Global Actess” and “Darling Of Asian Cinema” Eugene Domingo. Written by Chris Martinez and directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal under Spring Films.

The movie revolved around Kimmy and Dora’s battle for their business tycoon-father Luisito Go Dong Hae’s (Ariel Ureta) attention. Aside from the much coveted attention, Kimmy and Dora also battled it out to capture Johnson’s (Dingdong

Dantes) heart. Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme earned a whopping P100 million in just few weeks and currently owns a spot as one of the highest grossing films in the country. One of the cited factors for Kimmy Dora’s record-breaking success was its independent promotion and marketing efforts without any strong push from large mediums like TV. The movie took advantage of promoting on other platforms such as social media. Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme was the successful sequel of the blockbuster giant in 2012. The sequel tackled twin’s horror-comedy quest for life and love. In this installment, Kimmy and Dora married Barry (Zanjoe Marudo) and Johnson (Dingdong Dantes) - their respective partners from part one. Most part of the movie was filmed in South Korea. The sequel also boosted enormous blockbuster returns and marked as one of the biggest players that year.

This year, the dashing twin heiresses make a comeback and ready to conquer the big screen once more. Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel tackles fresh-grads Kimmy and Dora’s internship to pursue their family’s chain of businesses in the future. The Summa cum laude Kimmy starts to possess the makings of a strong leader while Dora keeps it modest and relates to the employees of the company.

As part of the twins’ extensive training, they’re required to start from basics to be in-the-know with their companies’ operations. Kimmy and Dora need to experience working as first-layer staff and take on different tasks - from being security guards to flight attendants. Kimmy and Dora’s rigorous internship will be spearheaded by the very handsome and sexy Human Resources head, Rodin Bartolleti, played by top leading man Sam Milby. Winning Rodin’s heart serves as one of the biggest challenges for twins. The much-awaited return of Kimmy Dora to the silverscreen is poised to be the most successful in all of its series. The prequel also stars some of the country’s biggest actors. “I am just so proud to be with best actors like Joel Torre and Angel Aquino. Kasama ko pa rin si Elena dito (Moi Bien) and our dad Ariel Ureta” said Eugene in an interview.

Eugene considers Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel as the most challenging in the series. For her, the challenges didn’t just end from playing two characters. “This is really challenging. Since this is a prequel, everything has to step back – from twin’s ways and how they think. I’ve also discovered that I enjoy doing fight scenes over love scenes! I would have to say that Sam’s kiss is the best so far in all of my movies. And that wasn’t on lips.” Eugene added.

Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel is Spring Film’s official entry to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival which opens this Christmas. Under the direction of Chris Martinez and Bb. Joyce Bernal as the film’s editor. Let Kimmy and Dora give you the most exciting and hilarious gift this holiday season! Co produced by Quantum Films and MJM Productions.
