Pacific Rim: Uprising - Did This New Team Fail?

From the first film featuring these mechanical wonders, it was inevitable that there will be sequels lined up. But will the new team for Pacific Rim: Uprising up to the expectations set by the first one?

Set 10 years after the Breach War,  a new generation of fighters and pilots are preparing for any posibility that kaijus would come back. And based on the trailer, they did and they seem to have something more advanced against the new Jeagers; Gypsy Avenger, Saber Athena, Bracer Pheonix, and Guardian Bravo.

Jake Pentecost join Nate Lambet to operate Gypsy Avenger along with young recruits who will trained to pilot the other Jeagers. Surprising the coalition is a rogue jeager and also the appearance of kaijus that sparked another dilemma of destruction especially in cities. I love the new jeagers, specially Saber Athena, yet I still love the original ones. The ten year gap between the two film also made a void between the two films.

Technical Effects: 4 out of 5 stars (Great details in the jeagers, the fight scenes and the )

Plot: 2 out of 5 stars (The action scenes were more engaging than the story itself)

Acting and Actors: 3 out of 5 stars (John Boyega steps up and shakes off his Star Wars impression)

Pros:  Gundam cameo, Jeagers, fight scenes
Cons: Poor plot, formulaic script

Music and Soundtracks:  3 out for 5 stars (It has no defining sound yet the scoring is good).

Overall: Rating 3.8 out of 5 stars (Quite disappointing for the plot, yet I enjoyed the action sequences but also hoping it may redeem itself on future films)
