REVIEW: Huawei FreeBuds 4

Huawei continues its Freebuds line with the Freebuds 4 which seems not far in terms of design yet has indeed shown upgrades to the previous features. As part of the Huawei ecosystem, it is important that earbuds should also mirror the innovations of the new releases such as the mate series, tablets, and more.

For this new phase of the Huawei Freebuds, it continues its aesthetic of having a round case as the most practical and most optimized shape to help in charging, connection, and also in grip use.

Available in two colors, silver frost and ceramic white, it keeps it simple for those choosing polar colors as preferences. The case is also slightly smaller compared to its predecessors which is hardly noticed unless you compare it with measurements. Though I would also love that they can have it in black and red like in the previous versions.

Inside the box, we still have the basic and simple contents such as the Charging case, Earbuds, Quick Start Guide, Safety Information, and Warranty Card. In which we expect a more quicker charging with its upgrades.

The case also makes it possible for wireless charging which comes handy specially when the charging cable isn't around and only a wireless charger is the only thing available.

Now let's look at the key features shown in the box and what I think about them:

  • Open fit Active Noise Cancellation 2.0

An improvement for better clarity and noise reduction, it is really helpful to have this feature to reduce distraction noise that can ruin the listening experience.

  • High resolution sound

Hearing a better resolution is always the goal of audio devices, consistently Huawei passes sound quality.

  • Air like comfort

I can compare that the earbuds are smaller and lighter compared to the other models which puts less strain in the ear when used in prolonged durations.

  • Dual Device connections

This is good news for those having multiple devices like a laptop, tablet or phone. This makes it better to switch rather than configuring connections between devices.

  • Swap, tap-twice and press-and-hold controls

This feature may need some time to adjust on the user since it should be clear to the wearer if they made the correct gesture. Yet if done correctly, you can utilize it in the best way.

  • And 22 hours of playback with the case

We are nor using these devices for longer periods. That is why along with the comfort of wearing them, they should also last longer than what we expect.

The Huawei Freebuds 4 also certified Splash, Water, and Dust Resistant (IPX4 - Earbuds) which is good news for active users who would use them outdoors. It is also comes as the most balanced in the series which include Huawei Freebuds 4i, and the Huawei Freedbuds Pro.

Overall, The Huawei FreeBuds 4 indeed continues the innovation and harmony that works best with the Huawei ecosystem yet also works with any bluetooth device delivering amazing audio quality in a simplistic design upgraded subtly and let the quality speak for itself.
