#BrigadangAyalaKaakay: Prepaid load business keeps Madaluyong's trusted sari-sari store afloat

For almost two decades now, 60-year-old Mary Magaling of Mandaluyong has relied on her sari-sari store to provide for her family. But just like other small business owners, she found herself on the brink of bankruptcy when the pandemic struck.

"Konting-konti nalang po, talagang magsasara na dapat ako," Magaling said. "Sobrang hirap po ng sitwasyon ngayon dahil walang panggastos ang mga tao."

Magaling said she often finds herself longing for the days when things were normal--most people were employed, and businesses were flourishing. Back then, her store was able to support the schooling of her three nieces who were living with her. And, for many years, she has been the constant go-to person of her suki when budget runs short, and they could only afford tingi-tingi (small quantities of goods).

Unpacking Cybersecurity: Examining Its Gears With Today's CISOs

As breaking news of the latest online scams and security breaches continue to make the rounds, so do heated conversations about cybersecurity such as large companies being hacked, customer data leaks, and the all too common email phishing, among others.

“Millions of people are going online for their everyday transactions,” says Peter Maquera, Senior Vice President for Globe Business, Enterprise Group. “But whether it's personal or for business, it seems that, for many, cybersecurity is still quite an abstract concept—until, of course, you become the victim.”

While cybersecurity has become a strategic priority for enterprises in this time of widespread digitalization, challenges still abound. Cyber threats and cyber attacks continue to rise, and threat actors are finding more sophisticated ways to put organizations at risk. Coupled with existing gaps in cybersecurity skills and infrastructure, as well as regulatory and compliance issues, it makes for the perfect storm of cyber vulnerabilities.

Globe debuts first ever Eco-SIM in Asia Made from recycled refrigerator waste

As the country’s leader in mobile, Globe debuts the first-ever Eco-SIM cards in Asia for its postpaid mobile customers, contributing to environmental sustainability by recycling refrigerator waste, in time for Zero Waste Month in January.

Together with its partner, Thales, Globe has deployed Eco-SIM cards starting November 2021, made from 100% recycled materials including polystyrene waste from refrigerators, diverting this waste stream from landfills.
