With 5G and 4L, Will A Driverless Port Far Away?

During Christmas season, dispatching different goods and commodities from all over the world on time for a port is always important. At the end of last year, port congestion caused severe disruptions in global supply chains, and most stores were out of stock during the Black Friday and Christmas, the peak selling season.

To experience less dilemma like this, the innovation case from Tianjin Port might help.

Tianjin Port is one of the world’s largest ports. It has a 300000-ton-class wharf with a channel depth of -22 meters. It has 192 berths of various types and 128 berths above the 10,000-ton-class.

Transformative power of 5G seen to impact PH education, health and entertainment sectors

Globe Telecom believes that making 5G technology available and accessible to more customers all over the Philippines will spur further the evolution of the Filipino digital lifestyle especially in the areas of education, health and entertainment sectors.

Even before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the potential benefits of 5G technology have been expected to change how people communicate, conduct  business and transform lifestyles, including delivery of services from e-business to e-government.

Nine months into the global pandemic has pushed people to adopt and even trust  technology today as an enabler of life choices. 5G is expected to revolutionize distance learning by having more interactive ways of teaching, and in future, using artificial intelligence for continuous learning.  With 5G, education is expected to take another turn in the new normal with more than 27 million students and  teachers facing the challenges of online learning for the first time in the country’s history.

Globe removes consumer 3G SIMs across distribution chains

Globe announced the completion of the removal of consumer 3G SIMs across its retail and distribution chains. The move, which started early last year,  was in line with the company’s goal to shift its customers to 4GLTE/5G-ready SIMs for improved mobile internet experience.

3G or short for third generation technology for mobile brought an important breakthrough in terms of basic mobile internet access two decades ago. However, new and better technologies like 4G LTE have been introduced since then, prompting many telecom companies across the world to stop offering 3G services while others are already in the process of doing the same.

The desire to serve this need is what propels Globe to bring internet connectivity, particularly the latest 5G technology, to more Filipinos.

Back in February, Globe introduced 5G to its most elite set of customers, Globe Platinum. Shortly after, the said technology was extended to all Globe Postpaid customers. And, starting August 24, Globe Prepaid and TM customers are now able to access Globe’s 5G network in areas like Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Makati CBD, Rockwell Center, Ortigas CBD, and strategic areas along EDSA and C5. 5G networks, phones not harmful, will not fry your brain

When misinformation on a new technology is debunked by authorities and experts, doomsayers will always find a way to continue to discredit it to a point that logic seems to be overtaken by the need to create confusion or misconceptions.

The introduction of any new technology, along with devices capable of this technology, are now even discredited through propagation of false information and lies.

Take the case of 5G technology and 5G capable mobile devices.

Back in 2000, Bill P. Curry submitted a report to the superintendent of the Broward County Public Schools in Florida, claiming that exposure to wireless frequencies associated with computer networking is dangerous to the health of students. His graph showed an extremely steep increase in microwave absorption by the brain at higher wireless frequencies. This report was used as the basis for fallacies surrounding 5G, that this same wireless frequency posed health risks.
