REEL DEAL: "Manny The Movie" To Premiere At SXSW Film Festival IN Texas

The South by Southwest Film Festival and Conference (SXSW) in Austin, Texas recently announced that it will host the premiere of the Hollywood-produced “MANNY: THE MOVIE.”

The festival which runs from March 7 to 15 will mark the global debut of the highly anticipated documentary movie of the celebrated Filipino sports icon.

Narrated by Academy Award nominee Liam Neeson, “MANNY” chronicles  the untold story of Manny Pacquiao-- from his impoverished childhood years in war-torn Mindanao, his struggle to survive in Manila by working in construction sites and warehouses after running away from home at the age of 14-- to his dramatic  rise as a ten-time boxing world champion.

As the first boxing congressman in history, his Cinderella-man story has awed and inspired countless fans from all walks of life; and his continuing saga adds only to the checkered and amusing story of this remarkable global superstar.

GMA Network unravels Pacquiao-Marquez rivalry on Sunday

Right before the Philippine airing of the highly anticipated fourth match between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, GMA Network makes an in-depth and exclusive report on one of the most celebrated rivalries in boxing history via “Ang Huling Pagtutuos: The Pacquiao-Marquez 4 Pre-fight Special” on Sunday, December 9.

The hour-long special airs at 10 A.M. on GMA Channel 7 as a fitting prelude to the actual fight, which follows immediately at 11 A.M.

SM Cinema features Pacquiao- Marquez 4 live via Satellite on December 9

The 4th Pacquiao-Marquez fight is, without a doubt, one of the biggest bouts of the year.  In a sport where everything is unpredictable, where one punch can change everything, no one is sure to know of who has the upper hand in the 4th, and probably the decisive fight between Manny Pacquiao and the Mexican dynamo Juan Manuel Marquez.

Both men are considered among the greatest fighters in the history of boxing with Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao being the first eight-division world champion and the first to win the Lineal Championship in four different weight classes, making him a boxer of Muhammad Ali’s caliber.  Juan Manuel Marquez III, on the other hand, is the greatest Mexican boxers of all-time for many analysts. He is the current WBO light-welterweight champion and the third Mexican-born boxer to become a four-division world champion, winning seven world titles in four different boxing weight classes.

GMA Network welcomes world boxing champ

GMA Network hosted a grand homecoming party for Kapuso boxing champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao last June 16 at the Midas Hotel. No less than the Kapuso Network’s top officers were present to welcome the host of GMA’s Saturday game show Manny, Many Prizes. Blah Blah Blogs: What The #PacBradley?!

I don't usually blog about boxing, but when I do there is something really wrong. When Manny was winning fights left and right, there is the common greeting of congratulations and some analysis from a regular spectator. Well, indeed the fight was shocking not in the fight itself but the unbelievable decision made by the judges on the final scorecards. Again, I am no expert however I am a keen observer, and at the fight, it was clear on my end that the fight belong to Manny. I also impressed with Bradley keeping it up to the 12th round which is an achievement for players. But when the announcement was made in favor of Bradley, I felt there is really wrong.

To be fair, I do check on boxing analysts sites and post about the fight, and as far as I have checked, they all are in favor for Pacman. It's not that he is Pinoy that I am rooting for him, but because he is really talented and strong. For the spirit of the sport and fairness, I would like to know the basis of which they gave those scores. It should not be an issue of race, color, religious views, business, smooth talk or personal opinion, just sticking to the rules of boxing.

BLAH BLAH BLOGS: Pacquiao Reads MTL

“Sa atin, anong manual natin? Ang manual natin ay The Bible. The Bible is our manual to life,” pacquiao said  in a Chritsian fellowship on Thursday in stating the importance of reading the bible for improving oneself.

As holy week approaches, its good to know that there are people using their social status for the promotion of something good. And one reality in today's world, people tend to be too liberated to the point where they no longer know morality or even the basic rule of knowing what is right and wrong.  These next few days the holy week starts and the question of us and even to myself is if I had made any reflections on what I have been doing lately. Was it for the good or going bad unconsciously?

Manny Pacquiao even with fame has his downs and controversies. It's great to hear from a people's icon like him to talk about this. There are also celebrities who also live up to be very good Christians/Muslims/Buddhists etc., however they seem to get fewer and fewer as moral standards decline. But more than celebrities, the parents and the family have the biggest role in shaping these values and also bring up the importance of prayers and reading holy scriptures like the Bible.

Though it's not bible week, let us say this post was indeed inspired with Manny pacquiao's declaration for more upright living, starting today, not tomorrow or later.

Rex Navarrete Performs In Resorts World Manila

Aside from Paris Hilton in Town, we also have a very hot personality and also a fan of Manny Pacquiao is here in town to brust Resorts World Manila into laughter with stand up comedian REX NAVARRETE. He has been in the industry for about 22 years and even funnier than ever.

Rex recently had his national debut on Lopez Tonight on the TBS network. He is the only Fil-Am to have four audio CDs and three DVDs of his various perfomances. Filipinos loved him for his acts like "Maritess and the Superfriends" and "SBC Packers". Navarrete took Manila by storm in the early 2000s and his stories of his childhood and of relatives living in the US resonated with the local crowds.  People also loved his performance when he did a sketch for Manny Pacquiao. His performances are also a favorite in Youtube and even in (believe it or not) call center training.

Pacquiao and Hardworking Pinoys Trubute Art at the Mall of Asia Seaside

There is truth in the saying “no pain, no gain,” and Filipinos, more than anyone else in the world, best exemplify that pain is a symbol of perseverance, strength and courage. We are, after all, known globally as hard-working people who strive for excellence in whatever we do.

Time and again, we’ve witnessed how Filipinos wear their pain with pride and honor, as badges of jobs well done. Often, simple workers—such as those who toil under the sun, teach children in rundown classrooms, sew hundreds of garments a day, and go through much pain and sacrifice—steer the country towards the future. They are the true heroes of the country. It is these amazing, hardworking Filipinos, who accomplish even the most ordinary tasks with extraordinary dedication, that Alaxan FR lauds and salutes with the “Aray Ko Galing Ko” campaign.
