REEL DEAL: The Shallows REVIEW

When we talk about Shark movies, we automatically think of Jaws. But today we might consider a new player in the Shark attack thriller with THE SHALLOWS which stars Blake Lively.

The Shallows introduces again the predator of the deep into the shallow waters which many of us would not expect to see. And it was actually frustrating for Nancy Adams (Lively) to be helpless despite able to see the safe beach across her.

Blake Lively's portrayal as the helpless surfer just wishing for solace surfing is moving without needing a lot of lines. Then when things are healing for her, the unexpected ocean dweller comes in to terrorize the waters.

And with her put into a scary situation without help forces her to take matters up to her skills and knowledge. It was not fun and it was also painful for her. The question lingers if she can make it to shore by herself or if anyone can come to rescue her. Despite being in the shallows, she is actually in deep trouble.
