"Happy Death Day" Opens at No.1 in the US, Scares Up $26,.5-M

It's celebration time for Universal Pictures and Blumhouse's Happy Death Day as the new suspense-thriller opened at No.1 in North America this weekend October 6-8, with $26.5 million from 3,149 locations.

Teaser Poster Revealed for "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom"

Universal Pictures has just launched the teaser poster for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster hit, Jurassic World.

The poster sports the tagline, “Life finds a way.”

Directed by J.A. Bayona (Mama, The Impossible), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens in the Philippines in June 2018 and stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum, Toby Jones, James Cromwell, BD Wong, and Rafe Spall.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

"Despicable Me 3" Opens at No.1 with P93.6-M, the Biggest Opening Weekend for Animation in 2017

Universal Pictures and Illumination's new comedy adventure Despicable Me 3 ran off with a nationwide box-office haul of P93.6-M to open a No.1 and grab the biggest opening weekend for an animated title in 2017.

Bowing two weeks earlier in the Philippines ahead of the US, Despicable Me 3 proved to be a worthy successor to its previous two blockbuster installments, reinforcing its formidable brand as a family franchise. Its successful launch in PH is the biggest in the region, grossing more than in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

Universal Pictures Unveils "Dark Universe" For Its Classic Monsters Series of Films

Universal Pictures announced May 23 that its series of films reviving the studio’s classic monster characters for a new generation will be known as “Dark Universe.”

The motion logo for the new initiative features a musical theme composed by Danny Elfman and will debut in theaters preceding The Mummy, which will be released in Philippine cinemas June 7.

Jenny Slate Lends Voice to Pomeranian in "The Secret Life of Pets"

After voicing for the sheep Bellwether in “Zootopia” – and before doing voice work as Harley Quinn in the upcoming “The LEGO Batman Movie” -- fast-rising actress Jenny Slate (“Obvious Child”) will be heard as a Pomeranian dog in Universal Pictures and Illumination's “The Secret Life of Pets,” opening in Philippine cinemas August 24.

Slate plays Gidget, a naĂŻve, but gutsy Pomeranian who is 50% fluff, 110% tough, and a secret admirer of hero dog, Max.

In the film, Max (Louis C.K.), a quick-witted Terrier rescue who’s convinced he sits at the center of owner Katie’s universe, finds his pampered life turned upside down when she brings home Duke (Eric Stonestreet), a sloppy, massive mess of a mongrel with zero interpersonal skills. When this reluctant canine duo finds themselves out on the mean streets of New York, they have to set aside their differences and unite against a fluffy, yet cunning, bunny named Snowball, whose army of pets are out to turn the tables on humanity…all this and making it home before Katie returns at dinnertime.

Synopsis: While the mental divisions of those with dissociative identity disorder (previously known as multiple personality disorder) have long fascinated and eluded science, it is believed that some can also manifest unique physical attributes for each personality, a cognitive and physiological prism within a single being.

Adam Scott, Toni Collette Lead "Krampus" Cast

Talented actors Adam Scott (“Black Mass,” TV's “Parks & Recreation”) and Toni Collette (“Little Miss Sunshine”) are joined by child sensation Emjay Anthony (Disney's upcoming “The Jungle Book”) in Universal Pictures' horror-comedy “Krampus.”

When selecting the actors who would perform in “Krampus,” it was important to director Michael Dougherty to ensure that the cast felt exactly like a family attempting to get through Christmas. Says the director: “Our premise was, ‘What if we made that struggle more difficult by adding a heavy dose of supernatural fun to it?’ That meant casting people that you would believe in a family dramedy and finding actors who had strengths in drama and comedy…but who weren’t primarily known for horror films.” In Dougherty’s signature style, he muses, “I think it’s fun to take actors who you love and find endearing and then just do terrible things to them.”
