DepEd strengthens readiness of public schools along East & West Valley faults

In ensuring the safety of students and teachers, the Department of Education (DepEd) convened with its officials, principals, Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) coordinators from the National Capital Region and CALABARZON, and representatives from Phivolcs to boost readiness of the schools along the East and West Valley faults.

Education Secretary Br. Armin Luistro FSC underscored the importance of strong leadership in disaster preparedness, “As principals, you are the leaders on the ground. While it is not in your job description, I know it is ingrained in your heart: to take care of school, students, and teachers during disasters.” He added that school heads need to be prepared and to have a “strong heart and clear head” during any disasters.

Luistro said that the foundation of strong leadership during disasters is having the right information. He encouraged the school heads to be updated and to have the correct information on DRRM, saying, “You have to be able to communicate to the parents, students, and teachers the right information to properly gear up the community for any possible disasters.”

Enervon Prime Seniors Prom: Reliving Four Fun Decades from ‘50s to ‘80s

Prom season for high school students may be over but the adults who attended the recently-concluded Enervon Prime Primetime Seniors Prom Series are still on an all-time high from all the fun.

Beginning October 2014, Enervon Prime launched a series of decade-themed Seniors Proms held once a month for adults 50 years old and up. These events featured the fashion, music, and dance steps from the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s and the ‘80s at RJ Bistro in Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City.

As is typical in the industry, casting of the children’s parts presented its own challenges. “Young Frank was a little hard because we needed someone that looked like George and who could handle the physicality of the part because we wanted to do so much of it in camera,” says producer Jeffrey Chernov. “When we found Thomas it was like we struck gold.”

Commenting on his young costar, Hugh Laurie says, “Thomas Robinson gave Young Frank every possible ounce of energy and optimism and idealism that the part needed. “Alexandra’s character is a strong woman, not a damsel in distress, and that was important to us,” says producer Beau Flynn. “I have two daughters, so I especially love to see women take on these roles, because the truth is, women are often the real heroes.”

Hundreds of miles away, Blake recovers from the terror of being trapped in a crushed car in an underground parking garage and struggles to regain her bearings. Unable to communicate with her parents by phone except for a few fleeting moments, she discovers that the lessons her father taught her about survival still resonate and guide her.

REEL DEAL: Dinosaurs Strike A Pose In New "JURASSIC WORLD" Posters

Steven Spielberg returns to executive produce the long-awaited next installment of his groundbreaking Jurassic Park series, “Jurassic World.” Colin Trevorrow directs the epic action-adventure from a screenplay he wrote with Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley join the team as producers.

The movie takes place 22 years after the horrific events of the original “Jurassic Park” and is set on a fully functional park on Isla Nublar.
