BA Original Documentary: KEPT unveils the story of Nanay Fedelina, abused domestic worker for 65 years

The story of Nanay Fedelina, domestic worker and human trafficking survivor, is featured in the BA Original Documentary KEPT: Six Decades of Servitude, airing this weekend on TFC.

BA Correspondent Steve Angeles, who is also the documentary’s writer and producer, learned of the story of Nanay about a year ago while he was covering the Pilipino Workers Center (PWC). “It was still in the prosecution stage, but due to the sensitivity of this, we kept this story a secret until they felt it was time to share her story, which we started doing on our BA newscast.”

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, “Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. Every year, millions of men, women, and children are trafficked worldwide – including right here in the United States. It can happen in any community and victims can be any age, race, gender, or nationality.”

Eisenberg, Harrelson Are Reluctant Sidekicks in "Zombieland: Double Tap" (Opens Oct 23)

Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg reprise their original characters Tallahassee and Columbus, respectively, in Columbia Pictures’ action comedy Zombieland: Double Tap.

One of the hallmarks of the original Zombieland is The Rules, Columbus’s guidelines on how to survive a zombie apocalypse that pop up on the screen during key moments. The most important? The Double Tap: taking great care to shoot a zombie twice to assure their extermination. Unfortunately for our heroes, the zombies have now evolved and they’re now faced with the T-800s, a Terminator-like species that’s relentless and notoriously hard to kill.

1.3 M Filipinos boost green movement with GCash Forest

Growing a tree is grand work: it requires grit, a whole lot of TLC, and exceptional skills to keep it alive.

But green thumb or not, over 1.3 million Filipinos are now putting their tap-happy fingers to work to help the country increase its forest cover through GCash Forest, a special feature on the GCash app that strives to boost reforestation efforts while building a cashless nation.

GCash Forest allows users to grow virtual trees that will have real-life counterparts at the Ipo Watershed, a source of Metro Manila’s critical water supply that is losing forest cover at an alarming rate.

A personal carbon tracker, GCash Forest keeps tabs of how much emission subscribers have avoided by choosing greener activities, which have corresponding “green energy” points that accumulate when done frequently.
