MUSIC LYF: PhilPop 2013 Interpreters Revealed

The PhilPop 2013 top 12 song interpreters were revelaed this week and this marks the start of the release of the upcoming album compilation of the biggest songwriting competition in the Philippines. From the 12 finalists, they chosen artists mostly from the Universal Records artists roster who will interpret their songs. This is something different since usually, the songwriter would have the option if they can sing their piece but for PhilPop 2013, they opted to have a seperate interpreter for the entry.
Another news from the competition is the withdrawal of Marion Aunor from the competition. Mr. Ryan Cayabyab told the press that it was a personal desicion not to continue with the contest. Marion was also a finalist at another songwriting competition this year though it is not clear if this is the reason she is backing out.

Richard Gutierrez’s Love & Lies ends on a high note

For the past 9 weeks, viewers were glued to their TV screens as they followed the journey of Richard Gutierrez’s character Edward in GMA’s original series Love & Lies.

According to Richard, one of his unforgettable experiences while doing the series is that he was able to work with the Philippine Navy. “Matagal ko nang pangarap na makita yung Navy natin at makatrabaho sila, so naging magandang experience yun para sa akin.”

According to data from the industry’s widely trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, the suspenserye and fast-paced action series posted high TV ratings during its run.

Based on overnight household ratings data recorded in Mega Manila for April 8 to May 31, Love & Lies scored an average household rating of 20.7 percent versus ABS-CBN’s Apoy sa Dagat with 18.5 percent.

Renaissance Art Gallery's celebrated their 10th year anniversary with an exhibit called RenaiXance – A Decade of Renaissance Art Gallery ” was unveiled on June 5, 2013 at the Art Center located at the 4/F SM Megamall Bldg. A, Ortigas Center.

The exhibit  features more than 50 of the country’s foremost names in the field of visual arts (figurative and abstract), sculpture and photography.

Seeing a lot of artists in one venue makes it a very interesting sight for art lovers and newbies like me which looks up to Pinoy artists for their works that range from the contemporary to the bizarre which plays with one's imagination.

We went around to see the artworks and I can say that I am a fan of sculptures and photography, works of National Artist Abdulmari Imao and photos of Jim Paredes are works you should not miss when you visit the exhibit.

HEALTHY LYF: A new trend in erasing wrinkles and sagging skin

Aging is something inevitable, but how we want to age is something we can work with. Aging manifests in many different ways, but the most noticeable of all these signs comes right through our skin, especially when people start noticing wrinkles on our face.

All structural tissue layers of our skin are affected by aging, and there is a change in the topography, shape, and proportions of the face. As the face loses volume, the skin loses elasticity and is no longer able to accommodate the underlying volume loss, causing it to sag and fold.

Getting a facelift surgery is one of the treatments used to get that tighter, much younger look. What it does is, the surgery makes incisions near the hairline and then the skin is pulled back to remove wrinkles and other signs of aging, the excess skin excised. Facelift surgery is one of the solutions to a sagging, aging face, but not all can afford the treatment and there are some others who just won’t do it under the knife.
