I Still Have Finance Faith In Banks

As the economy progresses, more people are saving and investing their hard-earned money in banks. However, a lot has happened in the past few weeks that involved banks and their operations. It was alarming for the banks as well as the clients which caused major concerns and doubt with these institutions.

Another incident that happened recently is when a UnionBank employee was arrested for allegedly stealing P17 million from a UnionBank branch in Pasig City. The arrest was made after an unauthorized cash transfer from the bank's Ortigas Cash Center to its Caloocan Cash Center was discovered to allegedly cover-up the theft.

As the news came out in social media, there have been a lot of speculations and fears when it comes to banking. Many are now afraid of putting their savings in banks and were opted to keep them in their own hands. But this avoidance from dealing with banks is doing more harm than good.

BLAH BLAH BLOGS: Iglesia Y Estado

We all know that recently, the INC (Iglesia Ni Cristo) is getting into a lot of controversy lately. First with the alleged abduction and illegal detention of ministers and family members linked to the Manalos, the founding family that started the religion back in 1914.

It was just last year that they celebrated their centenary with the unveiling of Ciudad De Victoria that boasts of the Philippine Arena (the largest indoor venue in the world), Philippine Stadium (world-class stadium built for athletic events), and other future plans that made a mark with history as well.

But things don't go well with INC on its 101st year, there was the controversy of the Korean contractors of the Philippines which is still unresolved. They also has a legal issue with the party of singer Chris Brown for failing to perform for the New Year's Eve concert, which left Chris to be quarantined in the country for several days. Now in a very rare event, INC members went to the streets to protest Justice Secretary Laila De Lima for her "meddling" with the internal problems of the church.

Blah Blah Blogs: What The #PacBradley?!

I don't usually blog about boxing, but when I do there is something really wrong. When Manny was winning fights left and right, there is the common greeting of congratulations and some analysis from a regular spectator. Well, indeed the fight was shocking not in the fight itself but the unbelievable decision made by the judges on the final scorecards. Again, I am no expert however I am a keen observer, and at the fight, it was clear on my end that the fight belong to Manny. I also impressed with Bradley keeping it up to the 12th round which is an achievement for players. But when the announcement was made in favor of Bradley, I felt there is really wrong.

To be fair, I do check on boxing analysts sites and post about the fight, and as far as I have checked, they all are in favor for Pacman. It's not that he is Pinoy that I am rooting for him, but because he is really talented and strong. For the spirit of the sport and fairness, I would like to know the basis of which they gave those scores. It should not be an issue of race, color, religious views, business, smooth talk or personal opinion, just sticking to the rules of boxing.

Reporter's Notebook investigates child abandonment, military 'abuses'

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, a security camera captures a disheartening scene:  a young woman leaves her child by the doorstep of someone else's home.  After some inquiry, authorities tracked down her whereabouts.  When asked why she abandoned her child, she said that she did not have the means to raise the child properly adding that if she only had a choice, she would have done otherwise.

This Tuesday, GMA's award-winning documentary program Reporter's Notebook will discuss the problem of child abandonment and what really drives many "unprepared" moms to desert their children.  Are poverty and emotional inadequacy the culprits, or are all these just an excuse to evade the responsibility of being a mom?
