All systems go for the first Financial Fitness Run by CFA Society Philippines

More than 4000 runners to race for investor rights campaign

Professional and amateur runners, and health and fitness buffs, will run together with the financial community to kick-off the first-ever Financial Fitness Run on Sunday, February 23 at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Organized by CFA Society Philippines, a non-profit professional membership organization of finance and investment practitioners, the sporting event will see the half-marathon commence at 4:30AM for the 21K race; 5:30AM for the 10K race; 5:50AM for the 5K race; and 6:00AM for the 3K race. Over 4,000 are expected to take part across the fun run’s four race categories.

“The Financial Fitness Run’s overwhelming response underlined the growing popularity of running as a sport amongst Filipinos and our quest for a healthier lifestyle,” said April Lynn Tan, CFA, President of CFA Society Philippines. “This is the first time that a Metro Manila race will give out trophies to half-marathoners and we are hoping that this will create a trend in the coming years,” added Rizchelle Sampang-Manaog, Program Manager of CFA Society Philippines.

Attending the Financial Fitness Run are Mr. Hans Sicat of Philippine Stock Exchange, Atty. Prudence Kasala of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and Ms. Rosalia de Leon of Bureau of Treasury. The fun run is part of a month-long campaign and aims to create awareness of investor rights within the financial community. The Statement of Investor Rights was developed by CFA Institute to advise buyers of financial service products of the conduct they are entitled to expect from financial service providers.

The race is expected to culminate at 7AM with all finishers of the 21K receiving a trophy and finisher t-shirts while the rest of finishers in the 10K, 5K and 3K races will receive medals respectively. Meanwhile, only the first 100 finishers of 50 men and 50 women from the rest of the races will get finisher t-shirts. Hydration stations will also be available at every 1km.

An awarding ceremony will be held at the end of the race with special prizes to be given to runners. Among the contest categories are Best in business attire; Biggest delegation by an Institution and Biggest delegation by a runners’ club. A raffle draw will also be conducted after the awarding of prizes.
