REEL DEAL: The Basement REVIEW

One of the scariest places on earth is definitely the underground floors. And it is indeed true as many horror stories and unsolved crimes happens to occur in the level. And this has been the inspiration for the latest horror movie "The Basement". This movie took some years for its completion due to the stellar cast of Kapuso stars with many of them are very busy with their shows and commitments.

Bringing names from Starstruck like Kevin Santos, Dion Ignacio, Dex Quindoza, Jan Manual , Aljur Abrenica and Sarah Lahbati, together with  RJ Padilla, Betong Sumaya, Chynna Ortaleza, Enzo Pineda, Louise Delos Reyes, Elen Adarna and Pilita Corales. 

The story revolves on the unusual situation of being trapped in the basement of a building, each having their own business and some on their way home when tragedy strikes and they are stuck inside the creepy basement to which is the home of a mananangal.
The Basement brings to the screen the iconic mananangal which is still very feared by many yet also lured into their charm when in mortal form. The question now is who is the mananangal among the strangers and how can they survive this ordeal that they face?

The Basement is brought to you by GMA Network. Now Showing in Theaters. Its a good reason to cling to a loved one for Valentines dates.

Technical Effects: 2 out of 5 stars (Visual effects would need improvement as the standard to show realistic is getting competitive)
Plot: 3 out of 5 stars (The premise of having a mananangal is already an interesting story, it may just need refining on its execution)
Acting and Actors: 3 out of 5 stars  (Best performances are Louise Delos Reyes, RJ Padilla and Kevin Santos
Music and Soundtracks:  3 out for 5 stars (It is actually a mix of new unique sounds but one can also notice common noise)

Cons:  Visual effects, sounds, awkward comedic moments
Overall Rating: 3.3 out of 5 stars (The story is promising, may just need some polishing with execution)
