Student Leaders Gather for a Morning Workshop of Event Planning.

Not every person is cut out to organize and plan for events. However, organizing events is an important tactic nowadays if you wish to let your target audience notice you and experience your brand amidst competition and the busy and usually traffic world of traditional and social media. With proper training, tools, and practical insights, one can learn how to organize an event effectively. This is what PR firm BrandSpeakAsia believes in as they organize the second installment of a workshop for students, #CoffeeTalk: Creativity At Work, held recently at Commune Cafe, Makati City.

#CoffeeTalk is a social initiative pioneered by BrandSpeakAsia, a Makati based PR Firm which specializes in media relations, events, digital PR and design. The workshop is designed to teach student principles about PR, events and design outside the classroom. The company believes that in a creative industry such as PR, students and the youth, in general, will play a big role in the future, not to mention the role they are already playing as they shape and impact the world of social media.

“There are principles that students can learn in the classroom and there is wisdom that they can learn when they begin to work and hear out insights from professionals who are already working. While BrandSpeakAsia is a PR firm that primarily serves as an extended marketing and communications arm for clients, we want to contribute to the community by making ourselves available as a mentor for students who aspire to be excellent in their fields. That is why #CoffeeTalk was birthed. Alongside it, our company is also strengthening our internship programs for students so that we can continue to impart strong working ethics and help shape the character of these youth while they stay with us,” shares Leigh de Armas, President and CEO of BrandSpeakAsia.

The recent #CoffeeTalk was attended by student representatives from UP Manila, Dela Salle University, Ateneo De Manila University, Enderun Colleges, Raffles Design Institute Manila, Mapua Institute of Technology, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Lyceum University, Philippine Christian University among others. This workshop was also solely promoted through Social Media as BrandSpeakAsia proves how effective, engaging, and impactful this communications channel is for the youth.

#CoffeeTalk will also have an invasion series this year which will bring this workshop to select university grounds. The first invasion happened last February at UP Manila and will happen again in June. The next rounds of #CoffeeTalk: Creativity at Work is slated to happen this August and October 2014.

The success of this workshop is shared by the unique partners in each niche such as Commune Café’s specialty cafe that offers Latte Art to customers; Strawberry Swoon, an online reseller of dainty accessories, and, TresMariasCupcakes, a group of young bakers aged 13, 12 and 3.
