IT Chapter Two - How Can Evil End?

After waiting for two years, it is time for us to go back to the town of Derry where a group of kids made an oath to stop IT after its 27 years of slumber. We had s scarefest with the first IT movie which brought new life to the classic Stephen King novel.

Now for chapter two, it will now introduce a grown up gang who have their own lives outside Derry. But when It comes back after decades of slumber, it again wrecks havoc on the small town and its residents. These incidents will eventually call the group back to finally kill the murderous clown or they will be killed by him.

With their own separate lives outside the troubled town, they have forgotten some of the memories of the most traumatic experience of their lives. Catching up with their own lives looks very fun and nostalgic, however it takes a turn to horror as Pennywise the clown plays with the groups fears and frustration.

Bringing the mix of past and present Loser's Club which consists of: Jaeden Martell, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Wyatt Oleff. While the adult versions are James McAvoy, Jay Ryan, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, James Ransone, and Andy Bean. As memories, guilt, and bonds play a huge role to the story, the characters will bring both of them together in some scenes.

As it continues to play with playful ways to kill and die, this version also had a boost of comedy which is quite weird because the consistency of thrill and fear is broken by a punchline. The memory progression was a good way of fill in the gaps even if you have not seen the first film.

It has violence and blood,  MTRCB gave the film a R-13 rating.

IT Chapter Two stars James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, James Ransone, Jay Ryan, Andy Bean, and Bill Skarsgård. Directed by Andy Muschietti, showing in theaters Sept 4, 2019.

Deliberation time kids!

Film summary: IT The Clowning Chapter

Favorite quote:

“For 27 years...I dreamt of you, I craved you, I've missed you!"  - Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård)

Technical Effects: 5 out of 5 stars (I should say this has a better treatment of special effects than the first as it balances cinematic treatment and gritty effects)

Plot: 3 out of 5 stars (I haven't read the book, but according to some articles and interviews that there are huge changes from the book which seem)

Acting and Actors: 5 out of 5 stars (Bill Skarsgård still shines as still scary AF)

Pros:  Gore, Comedy, Gay themes and characters, Monster forms
Cons:  Lore, thrill overtaken by humor, some scenes too cinematic

Music and Soundtracks:  3 out for 5 stars (The music shifts from eerie to comedy which feels weird)

Overall: Rating 3.8 out of 5 stars (Worth waiting for 2 years with the introduction of the adult versions but was hoping for a more complicated climax.)
