Class Is in Session: 2TinCans Brings School of Rock to Cebu

2TinCans Philippines, Inc. proudly brings Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock to Cebu this June, a high-octane stage adaptation of the 2003 hit film that celebrates youth, rebellion, and the transformative power of music.

Directed by Sarah Mae Enclona-Henderson, 2TinCans Founder and Producing Artistic Director, the production features choreography by Vincent Paul Diez Gaton, with vocal coaching by Mikee Amagsila and Mario Alcoriza of 2TinCans Theatre Company.

The show brings together a vibrant ensemble of performers led by 2TinCans Theatre Lab’s musical theatre students and supported by members of the 2TinCans Theatre Company. The result is both a celebration of emerging talent and a testament to the company’s 11-year legacy of developing Cebuano theatre artists.

“This show is more than just rock ‘n’ roll. It’s about finding your voice, making noise with purpose, and discovering who you are when someone finally believes in you,” said Enclona-Henderson. “It’s loud. It’s messy. It’s joyful. And it’s exactly the kind of show 2TinCans needs to do right now.”

Featured in the cast are 2TinCans Theatre Lab’s musical theatre students for this year’s first quarter program: Fia Mikaele Cagulada, Arabella Yzarra Carbungco, Amanda Grace Yu, Patricia Grace Crago, Kasofia Loquez, Zaviel Beaux Suralta, Courtney Suzanne Encarnacion, Maria Morgana Gonzalodo, Aleesha Tabar, Sky Clemente, Ciara Baricuatro, Queenie Madonna Paras, Alden Patrick Manansala, Juliene Cardenas, Henrique Kristoffer Ong, and Joaquin Codilla.

Performing alongside them are 2TinCans Theatre Company members Grant Bacaltos, Zyra Dee, Vince Lopez, Dave Feril, Ghyllianne Dave Caballes, Mikee Amagsila, Mario Alcoriza, Sasha Isobel Chiong, Josh Andrino, and Judee Kriselle Rallos.

Based on the Paramount Pictures film written by Mike White and starring Jack Black, School of Rock features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and book by Julian Fellowes. The score includes new rock anthems and crowd favorites like “You’re in the Band,” “Stick It to the Man,” and “Teacher’s Pet.” This amateur production of School of Rock is presented by arrangement with The Really Useful Group Ltd.

With its message of empowerment, teamwork, and turning the volume up on what makes you different, School of Rock is a great watch for the whole family.

Performances will be held on June 28 and 29, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Dr. Ronald R. Duterte Theater, University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), Lahug Campus.
