REEL DEAL: “THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 1” Continues To Lead At The Box Office

The highly-successful worldwide release of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” that opened pre-Thanksgiving celebration (U.S.) topped the festive mood of the holidays with a $14.5million on its opening day and continued soar over all at the box-office throughout its first and second  weekends that has earned$225 million to-date. Variety’s report states that overseas, “Mockingjay” is also turning in an impressive performance and should hit around $195 million internationally — topping the total of last year’s “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” at the same point.

Maja Salvador will be leaving a huge footprint on the music scene with her debut album “Believe”. And it is not loosely said so. Singer-actor Sam Concepcion proved that indeed he is a young hitmaker when he was awarded three record awards during his Birthday production number in ASAP last Sunday, Nov.30. He was awarded by Universal Records General Manager Kathleen Dy-Go three record awards - Gold for his album Infinite, a Platinum for his single Mahal Na Mahal, and a Double Platinum for Dati, a collaboration with Tippy Dos Santos and Quest.

PH kicks off first ASEAN schools games in the country

Marikina City—The Philippines, through the Department of Education (DepEd) and the local government of Marikina City, officially opened the 6th ASEAN Schools Games (ASG) at the Marikina Sports Complex, November 30.

Education Secretary Br. Armin Luistro FSC said that ASG plays an important role in solidifying ASEAN ties. He said, “This display of solidarity among nations proves that neither borders nor cultural barriers are hindrances to the development and further camaraderie among ASEAN countries.”

He added, “This ASG is not a mere sporting event but a parade of culture among participating countries. We dare learn from each other. We learn that differences allow us to enjoy and appreciate the various treasures in each of our cultures.”

Luistro said that ASG seeks to promote ASEAN solidarity among the youth through school sports and provide opportunities for school athletes to engage in cultural exchange.
