The Midnight Greetings navigates ‘Gen Z’ emptiness on debut single “Youth”

The Midnight Greetings, the solo bedroom pop project of Kyle Maraton, paints a drowsy picture of emptiness on his debut single “Youth”—released today via indie record label, Lilystars Records.

The lo-fi tune makes good on the promise of Kyle’s shaggy charm and confessional songwriting, reflecting on his struggles of losing track of time and being an inconvenience to everyone.

“The song conveys the feeling of loneliness,” the Cebu-based young musician explains. He wrote “Youth” during a very productive period in his life last year, attending shows and performing live in music venues. But the bouts of depression just kept seeping in. His mind was occupied with the uncertainty of not knowing what the future holds; hence, the need to find an outlet to express his feelings.

Singapore alt-pop newcomer Naomi G drops her debut single “Cage The Animal”

It’s official! Naomi G joins the growing roster of indie label, Umami Records.

The eclectic newcomer marks her official debut with the release of “Cage The Animal”—a gothic pop-R&B tune that chronicles the cycle of abusive and toxic relationships, and how to get away from it triumphantly in order to rebuild one’s dignity.

Merging the broody minimalism of Lorde and Banks with the chameleonic tendencies of artists like Halsey, Naomi G’s latest track begins rather unassumingly with nostalgic, flatlining keyboards and ethereal soundscapes, and evolves into a vindictive anthem that turns emotional scarring and pain into a source of strength.

Given that she already seems to have her stylistic stamp on lock, Naomi G is destined to take the world by storm with her bold, assertive take on women empowerment, never treading lightly on important social issues that degrade, discriminate and disrespect people of her kind. It’s an accomplishment worth taking seriously, a statement of self-love and confidence from someone who initially seemed to have lost it all.

Plastic pollution has reached gigantic dimensions worldwide and has caused serious consequences to marine life and the wellbeing of society. In a recent study, it has been estimated that about 11 million tonnes enter the ocean every year. If no action is made, this can triple by 2040 which is equivalent to 50 kg of plastics for every coastline meter worldwide.

The Philippines, based on a 2015 modelling study, has been considered as one of the 10 top countries contributing to plastic pollution, has been continuously challenged with increasing waste generation and the lack of a sound waste management system. This calls for a comprehensive approach among policy makers, corporations, cities, and consumers to ensure that no plastics reaches nature.

Storytime! This just happened days ago and yet I can't over the unexpected surprise that just came this October. And yes, as the title states, I just won P50,000 in a game during the press launch of Shopee 11.11 and 12.12 Big Christmas Sale which features the revelation of their newest endorser Kris Aquino. Actually I was not expecting much, since there were a lot of people for the launch and I hoping to win something in the raffle.

Though they did announce to have a special game which Kris Aquino, we were still clueless on how it will be played. Then the event started and they finally have Kris Aquino revealed as the newest brand ambassador of Shopee which I can say is perfect choice as she is still the Queen of all Media.
