Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire - More Monsters Makes More Mayhem

The expanding universe of cinematic monsters continues with the latest monster verse with Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire which continues the story of the kings of the monsters of the earth particularly Kong and Godzilla who dominates their own territory.

From the last film, we think that there is peace with the defeat of Mechagodzilla and each of them having their own domain which is the surface world and Hollow Earth. Godzilla remains on the surface fighting rouge monsters though still destructive yet very amusing, while Kong now resides on hollow earth which is unchartered and holds more mystery with its geography, flora and fauna.

But there is something that comes from hollow earth that pose a threat to both worlds especially to the humans, and its a monster monkey king with monsters under his command which means more swarm action. And yes, more monsters will be seen in this film which comes from the monster catalogue plus more. And yes, another legendary flying Kaiju is set to reappear for this one.

Though the story is quite predictable, the action and chaos for the fight scenes is really incredible and exciting. It feels like watching an MMA fight and professional wrestling but with monsters. And as a tradition with this universe, destruction in many locations also brings drama as you would have mixed emotions when key places in the world are leveled and toyed by these creatures. Hollow Earth holding a lot of secrets is also a place where the story can continue with possible enemy and ally monsters can come from.

The technology is also something that I like with the film series as each gives us creative technologies that are used by Monarch, and also, we will be introduced with primitive technology that is crucial to the story and also will play a big part in explaining the lore, history, and the scientific concepts of the hidden world.

The story behind the tech arm of Kong and the Pink transformation of Godzilla is something to look forward to as they not also look great but also levels up their fighting prowess which again fits perfect with the threats that they will face. With a lot going on leading to the climax, watching this on IMAX is great so you can have that POV of a person in the path of their destruction and brutality.

“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, and Fala Chen and directed by Adam Wingard.

“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” is now showing in PH cinemas this Black Saturday, March 30.
