Gina Lopez Names 8 Finalists Of The "Quest For Love"

Eight communities will get to jump start their own projects to help uplift the lives of their people throgh "The Quest For Love," a nationwide search that will soon air o ABS-CBN's "G Diaries" by Gina Lopez.

Launched last March, "The Quest For Love" is a project of the Investments in Loving Organizations for Village Economies (ILOVE) Foundation founded by Gina. It Aims to promote widespread social and environmental development by providing communities with financial and technical support to start their own social enterprises.

Gina introduced the top eight finalists of the search in a press conference on Thursday (July 19) at ABS-CBN's Dolphy Theater attended by Air Asia President Maan Hontiveros, Megawide Corporate Foundation, Inc. Chief Operating Officer Shiela Lynn Nawata, Globe Telecome, Inc. Senior Vice President Yolanda Crisanto, Forrest Foundation Philippines Executive Director Atty., Andres Canivel, Richprime Global Inc. President Myrna Yao, and IISA founder adna CEO Jen Villoria.

When the very first Cinematografo International Film Festival (CIFF) launched in November last year, it also introduced select originals and new projects that their committee has carefully selected to fund and support. One of these is Bitter Melon.

Bitter Melon is the third feature film that filmmaker H.P. Mendoza directed (Fruit Fly, I Am a Ghost). It is the story of a Filipino-American family who reunites for a Christmas party, only to find out that Troy, the second oldest child, has been ruling the house with fear-intimidating everyone who lives there-including his mother, and even physically abusing his wife. What starts as a fun holiday reunion turns into a darkly humorous crime scene as Declan, the youngest son, leads the family as they conspire on how to best murder the violent and abusive Troy.

ABS-CBN's YouTube Channel First To Reach 10M Subscribers In the Philippines, Thrid in Southeast Asia

ABS-CBN, the world’s leading Filipino media and entertainment company, continues to break new ground in the online world as its entertainment channel on YouTube has recently surpassed ten million subscribers, becoming the first-ever channel to do so in the country.

The channel is also one of the only three channels in Southeast Asia to have reached the milestone on the popular video-sharing platform, after Thai TV network Workpoint and Thai entertainment company GMM Grammy.

ABS-CBN Entertainment joined the eight-digit club on June 3 after five years of streaming program teasers and highlights, exclusive celebrity interviews and performances, updates about the network’s stars, and full episodes of Kapamilya teleseryes.

When two of the Philippines’ most celebrated performers come together for one afternoon of music revelry, the audience can expect a collaboration nothing short of entertainment par excellence. 

On July 15, the Philippines’ award-winning singer-composer Ogie Alcasid joins forces with multi-faceted Dance Empress and concert performer Maja Salvador for TFC Live presents: “The Songwriter meets the Wildflower” at Handashi Fukusi Bunka Kaikan, 1-22-1 Kariyado-cho, Handa-shi, Aichi-ken 475-0918.

Alcasid, dubbed the Hitmaker and a judge for the widely followed show “Your Face Sounds Familiar” seen on ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel (TFC), is set to perform for his first TFC show in Asia.

ABS-CBN launches “One Love, One Pinas” campaign on Independence Day

ABS-CBN pays tribute to the good qualities of Filipinos through the “One Love, One Pinas” campaign, which was launched June 12 as the nation celebrated its 120th year of independence.

The leading and largest Filipino-owned media and entertainment company ABS-CBN, dubbed the Kapamilya network by its viewers, set off its on-air and digital campaign during its annual flag-raising ceremony with a special video showing people from around the Philippines who spread love and positivity in their own ways. The video which highlights values of Filipinos from all walks of life was seen via ABS-CBN and outside the Philippines via The Filipino Channel (TFC) platforms worldwide. 

Asian Americans Call for a Movement To Represent in Hollywood

The statement as reported by Variety from Veena Sud, the creator of the AMC American crime drama TV series, “The Killing”, whose premiere ranked as the second-highest original series premiere for AMC, was as realistic as it could get:

“As a showrunner, I can pitch any story, but if it doesn’t sell it doesn’t get on the air. So I can go ahead and pitch every Filipino [or] Indian story known on the face of the Earth, but if it doesn’t sell, it doesn’t matter. And so there is a radical sea-change necessary, not only in our group represented here but in the entire industry,” Sud said.

ABS-CBN’s #JustLoveArawAraw celebration continues the entertainment roadshow as the Philippines’ largest media and entertainment network brings its summer revelry to Taiwan for the Filipino community’s annual tradition this side of Asia on June 10 at the New Taipei City Metropolitan Park (Xingfu Shuiyang Park) Sanchong District in New Taipei City.

Myx TV’s “Mom vs Matchmaker” wins for Best Reality-Based Program in WorldFest Houston

Myx TV, the leading English-language Asian American entertainment network, continued its winning season this year when its show, Mom vs. Matchmaker, won the Platinum Remi Award at 51st annual WorldFest for Best Reality-Based Program in Houston, Texas.

Mom vs. Matchmaker is a series focused on finding the perfect match for millennials. Matchmaking professional Carmelia Ray challenges the mothers of the contestants in finding a suitable date for their kid. Each will set up a date in the hopes that their pick will be chosen. The singles find out at the end of the episode who prepared which date.  

Founded over 50 years ago as an international film society, WorldFest became the third competitive international film festival in North America, following San Francisco and New York. It is also the oldest independent film and video festival in the world.  As one of the oldest and largest film and video competitions globally, it drew over 4,500 entries from over 43 countries this year. Only 10 to 15 percent of entries were awarded a Remi.

ABS-CBN executives touched by the stirring stories and warm welcome of Filipinos in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Pascual, DJ Moophs Have a Summer Hit On Their Hands with “OMW”

Spring may have officially started in the U.S. though it still feels like winter in most places.  But with the latest collab track dropped by Billboard Philippines Top 20 chart-topper Inigo Pascual and DJ and music producer Chris Lopez a.k.a. ABS-CBN AVP & Head of Global Anti-Piracy Elisha Lawrence further warns pirates at ANC Alerts stint

Following ABS-CBN’s landmark victory in a legal battle at the tail end of December 2017 against 32 websites that illegally reproduced and distributed its content, ABS-CBN AVP and Head of Global Anti-Piracy Elisha Lawrence (LEFT) bolsters the company’s warning to pirates in a recent interview with Lexi Schulze (RIGHT) on “ANC Alerts”.  

Lawrence -- whose team’s most recent anti-piracy win included a US federal court awarding advertising revenue and ownership of the domain names of the pirate sites to ABS-CBN, a milestone that was featured in TorrentFreak, a leading blog dedicated to copyright, privacy, and filesharing news -- said that ABS-CBN is relentlessly advancing its efforts daily.
