Ogie, Rufa Mae, Antonio, Betong get high with "tupig"

For those who have travelled to the North, "tupig" is one unique delicacy one just can't get enough of.  But for comedians Ogie Alcasid, Betong Sumaya, Rufa Mae Quinto and Antonio Aquitania the concoction made from sticky rice is much more than just that.  To them, it is like "drugs" that makes them high.  Why? That's what viewers of the longest-running comedy/gag show "Bubble Gang" are about to find out this Friday in the special episode "Dis Is Siete: The Bubble Gang Anniversary Special."

Ogie, Betong, Rufa Mae and Antonio will star in a short (comedy) film "Tres Y Locos" written by Roel Raval and directed by Bubble Gang director Uro dela Cruz.  The film will be shown alongside four other short films in "Bubble Gang's" anniversary episode.

Tres Y Locos is a semi-musical featuring a famous singing trio from the North.  They get inspiration for their every performance from the famous Ilocano delicacy called "tupig." They have become so dependent on tupig that they could not deliver a wonderful performance without it. Will they be able to break free from their "bondage" to the sticky delicacy?

"Tres Y Locos" is one of five short films that will highlight the celebration of "Bubble Gang's" 17th year via the episode "Dis Is Siete: The Bubble Gang Anniversary Special" airing this Friday, October 19, after Inside Protege on GMA-7.

“I feel so honored to have been given a project as big as this,” says Ogie. “I am in awe of all the talents involved here.”

The Songwriter & The Hitmakers features Ogie's songs recorded by Gary Valenciano, Regine Velasquez, Martin Nievera, Piolo Pascual, Christian Bautista, Sarah Geronimo, Arnel Pineda, Noel Cabangon, Richard Poon, Jed Madela, Kuh Ledesma, Rachelle Ann Go, Kyla, JayR and Jaya. New compositions and some of Ogie’s biggest hits are included in the album.

The album also includes a stirring duet of Ogie and Regine.

The project is indeed very timely as Ogie is all set to celebrate his 25th anniversary in show business next year.

Noel Cabangon’s Tuloy Ang Byahe concert a resounding success

Platinum singer-songwriter Noel Cabangon, in his latest concert Tuloy Ang Byahe at the Music Museum, proved that indeed less can be more. His about three-hour-long concert consisted of finely-performed OPM classics presented in the sincerest manner.

The said concert, attended by President Noynoy Aquino, DILG Secretary Mar Roxas, Senator Kiko Pangilinan, Pop Diva Kuh Ledesma, among others, packed the Music Museum last September 28.

REEL DEAL: I Do Bidoo Bidoo REVIEW

The great music of the APO Hiking Society already is a legend in OPM which has been venerated by many artists and even made a tribute album with popular artists and bands making their own rendition of the songs. Now we sometimes ask ourselves, why not make it a musical? That is what critically-acclaimed writer-director Chris Martinez have weaved together the timeless songs of APO into one musical movie of the year, I DO BIDOO BIDOO Heto nAPO sila.

Giving a whole new light with the songs of many generations that still popular even up to today, the film brings together a powerhouse cast that are perfect for each role. It stars, Sam Concepcion  (Rock Polotan) and Tippy Dos Santos (in her first major movie role as Tracy Fuentebella) as the lovely couple who plans to get married and goes into the traditional pamamanhikan stage. Tracy's parents, the Fuentebellas are Gary Valenciano (Nic Fuentebella) and Zsazsa Padilla (Ellaine Fuentebella), while Rock's parents are Ogie Alcasid  Pol Polotan) and Eugene Domingo (Rosie Polotan) which gives a whole lot of riot and touching moments in the film.

REEL DEAL: I Do Bidoo Bidoo Presscon

Unitel Pictures and Studio 5 brings this year the most festive movie musical of the year with “I DO BI DOO BIDOO” featuring the hits of the APO Hiking Society, written and directed by hitmaker Chris Martinez. Starring a star studded cast  of Ogie Alcasid, Gary Valenciano, Eugene Domingo, Zsazsa Padilla, Sam Concepcion, Tippy Dos Santos, Neil Coleta, Kiray Celis, Gerald Pesigan, and Sweet Plantado.

With a great array of the hits of the Apo Hiking Society, integrated into a great love story with a great cast makes it a movie to watch out for.

The movie centers on the 'pamamanhikan' in the life of the young bride and groom to be – an event that every Filipino family has to or will inevitably experience. A rich girl from the province, Tracy Fuentebella, and a poor boy from Manila, Rock Polotan, arranged a meeting of their two families – the Polotans and the Fuentebellas - before getting married, resulting in a disaster of “movie musical” proportions!

Regine says she’s currently on Southbeach diet, which she said, has helped her bring her weight down by 12 lbs.

Although the ideal weight for her height is 115lbs., Regine thinks that she would look “too skinny” if she’d target that weight.  Instead, she decided to target 125 lbs.

Now, she’s trying to lose 15lbs. in a month, but she’s taking it easy.  She also admits to having a diet “cheat day,” which she said was necessary in order to “fool” her body into thinking that she has not changed her usual diet.
