“He understood the character straight away,” was what director George Miller said as he watched Chris Hemsworth read the screenplay for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. In the highly anticipated expansion to the Mad Max universe, Chris Hemsworth plays Dementus, the tyrannical warlord that kidnaps a child that would later become the legendary Furiosa.

Hemsworth has such an understanding of the character that director Miller thought was ideal for the role. “He understood his character such that I began to rely on him whenever he would say, ‘I think Dementus would do this…’ And suddenly, it became more than serving his performance or the characters, but serving the deeper narrative of the story.”

“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” to hold World Premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival

Nine years after “Mad Max: Fury Road,” the Australian director, screenwriter and producer George Miller’s famous saga is back on the Croisette! The highly anticipated “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” will be revealed in the presence of the director and the cast, led by Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke, on the occasion of an Out of Competition gala screening at the Grand Théâtre Lumière at the Palais des Festivals on Wednesday May 15.

“Mad Max” (1979), “Mad Max II: The Challenge” (1981), “Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome” (1985), “Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015), “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” (2024): in 5 episodes and in almost 5 decades, George Miller has created a cathartic myth, even a cathartic mythology. “Mad Max” is a chronicle of societal and environmental collapse, playing with genre codes to question these themes, initially visionary and now cruelly topical. Originally filmed in the Australian Outback, this revisited “Western on wheels” describes a dystopian world where speed and movement are just as synonymous with life energy as with death as a result of resource depletion, offering the viewer a dose of adrenaline rarely equalled on the big screen.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire - More Monsters Makes More Mayhem

The expanding universe of cinematic monsters continues with the latest monster verse with Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire which continues the story of the kings of the monsters of the earth particularly Kong and Godzilla who dominates their own territory.

From the last film, we think that there is peace with the defeat of Mechagodzilla and each of them having their own domain which is the surface world and Hollow Earth. Godzilla remains on the surface fighting rouge monsters though still destructive yet very amusing, while Kong now resides on hollow earth which is unchartered and holds more mystery with its geography, flora and fauna.

But there is something that comes from hollow earth that pose a threat to both worlds especially to the humans, and its a monster monkey king with monsters under his command which means more swarm action. And yes, more monsters will be seen in this film which comes from the monster catalogue plus more. And yes, another legendary flying Kaiju is set to reappear for this one.

Titans are smashing through the big screen as “Godzilla x Kong,” filmed for IMAX, arrives on March 30. Tickets available now!

The fearsome Godzilla and the mighty Kong are back in action as Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sees the legendary Titans work together to defeat a mysterious new threat that challenges the existence of Hollow Earth and humanity. Filmed for IMAX, see the larger-than-life creatures lead the fight for this world on the big screen.

For actors Rebecca Hall and Bryan Tyree Henry, working with director Adam Wingard and his infectious enthusiasm for the film made them feel excitement for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, especially for the fans. “I saw brand new stuff every day. It makes a huge difference when your leader is a fan of this kind of universe, and is excited by the discoveries of what could possibly be, what could unfold. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I think the fans are going to be very excited,” Henry, who plays the character Bermie Hayes, explains.

Rebecca Hall, playing the role of Dr. Ilene Andrews in the film, also shares about director Wingard’s attitude towards filming, “You get this belief that he has a sense of what the film’s going to be, but you also get to have a really good time on set, because he has this exuberance that is just intoxicating. He does have an inner 10-year-old, and he’s there all the time watching everything. He directs with that enthusiasm, and you know you’ve done well, because you can hear him chuckling.”

Director Adam Wingard Returns to Helm and Raises the Stakes in "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire"

See the combined forces of Kong and Godzilla like never before in the ultimate titan team-up, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Kong’s journey to find his family leads to an undiscovered layer of Hollow Earth, and with it, the most dangerous threat to mankind yet.

Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWzEFE0KqRI

Given the success of the previous film, the epic monster mash Godzilla vs. Kong, director, story writer and executive producer Adam Wingard decided to go another route for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. “I remember even as we were completing the last movie, that was the thing in the back of my mind. ‘Where do you go from here?’,” he says. “The characters—now that they’ve fought together, they’ve been in movies together—it’s pretty hard to imagine doing another movie without them. Once you put Godzilla and Kong together you can’t take them apart, but they’re never gonna get along really all that well. They both have too big of egos, and so what’s fun about them is that even when they do team-up, there’s always gonna be this sort of uneasy truce to it all,” he explains further, talking about what kind of relationship audiences will expect between the Titans.

DUNE PART TWO - Power Comes From The Sands

Finally saw the Dune movie adaptation but started with Part 2, yet I still got the gist of how this universe works and the complex characters and world building made by Frank Herbert. And from many reviews, Dune Part One is critically acclaimed for its ensemble of great actors, production, and also an expansive movie franchise lead by its director Denis Villeneuve.

Dune Part Two continues the struggle of Paul Atreides (Timothée), to learn the ways of the dessert planet Arrakis which is known for its "spice" production and coveted by the empire. Here we see the path of having the prophesized leader by the Fremmen (Lisan al-Gaib) is coming true with Paul. His rise to power and influence along with his mother now called Reverend Mother, rises tensions across the planet along with its citizens and warrior tribes.

Though I have not watched the first film, the lore and intricacies of part two opened my curiosity about Dune which led me to watch videos about the story of Dune and the possible future they would make. The aesthetics of the film may involve a lot of sand and desert but seeing it on IMAX gives its more justice in understanding the movie.

Dune: Part Two acclaimed by critics as blockbuster masterpiece, debuting with a 97% Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score.

Rave reviews are flowing in as critics praise Dune: Part Two, Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated action spectacle. With a 97% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the critics’ consensus is that Dune: Part Two is visually thrilling and narratively epic.

Continuing the streak from its predecessor, Dune: Part Two lands with a success for reviewers. The Independent writes, “Dune: Part Two, like its predecessor, is a work of total sensory and imaginative immersion.” Total Film adds the movie to the hall of beloved sequels, saying, “However you cut it, Villeneuve wrangles coherence from Herbert’s unruly elements to deliver a sequel that ranks alongside The Dark Knight, The Empire Strikes Back – and Blade Runner 2049.”

Here’s everything you need to know before watching “Dune: Part Two” on February 28. Tickets available now!
