REEL DEAL: Director Marjane Satrapi Elevates "THE VOICES" With Highest of Notes

Acclaimed graphic novelist Marjane Satrapi directs Ryan Reynolds in what critics are saying to be the best performance yet of his career in “The Voices” that also stars Gemma Arterton and Anna Kendrick.

The story opens on Jerry’s (Reynolds) early days at his new job. Mesmerized by the ballet-like trajectory of pink forklifts amongst the bustling computer-controlled assembly lines at Milton Fixture and Faucet’s modern factory, he wears pink overalls and heavy gloves, and is proud of his work.  At home, he is not the brightly clad guy as he is perceived to be and talks to his pets – a dog and a cat that Jerry believes are talking back to him.

Following a very successful 3-day tennis tournament with over 30,000 fans at the Mall of Asia Arena last November 2014, the International Premiere Tennis League (IPTL) --Dubbed as the tennis all-stars--  will be bringing top-ranked and multi-awarded tennis players to the Philippines for its second season. “The Philippines will be another exciting leg of the IPTL’s tour,” says IPTL’s VP of Operations, Abhishek Ponia. TOYCON Philippines 2015: The Country’s biggest pop-culture event celebrates its 14th Year with Battlefields of Play

Those of us who grew up in the pre-social media era or even the pre-electronic gaming age remember a time when “Play” was associated with the outdoors.  We fondly remember halcyon days of setting up toy soldiers in the hilly terrain of our own backyard or lining up our Star Wars action figures to go into battle with our He-Man toys in the wonderland of our childhood bedroom.

Those were the days, when our imagination knew no limits and the fantasy characters of comics, cartoons and movies were our genuine playmates; ready to defend and protect us, by the Power of Greyskull or by the all-encompassing Force, forging into battle with the evil hordes of Cobra, the Legion of Doom or armies of Decepticons.

We never knew it, but our childhood was fraught with glory in our Battlefields of Play.  And this is what we celebrate once again, as a clarion call sounds to dust off our toys and wage war once again with glee and joy in our hearts.

Dockers Signature On-The-Go: Fashion with a function

With great fashion comes great productivity.

In the same way that “you are what you eat,” what you wear also speaks so much about you and your body of work. Dressing up sharply in the workplace does not only make you look smart and respected in the eyes of your colleagues, but also make you feel more confident about yourself and what you are capable of.

There is more to fashion than looking good, and that is feeling good. To look aesthetically presentable is one thing, but to feel better about the way you carry yourself is totally another. A true, classy fashion sense transcends from the outside to the more essential components inside.

With Dockers’ Signature On-The-Go, fashion comes with a function. Wearing simple yet smart-looking Dockers pants in the office makes a modern gentleman feel more comfortable about himself and his craft, which makes one a more efficient worker. Feeling good is the first step to better productivity.

REEL DEAL: “ENTOURAGE” Transtitions From HBO Series Into Feature Film

From the opening seconds of the first episode of HBO’s “Entourage” in 2004, viewers followed driver/errand boy Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) as he exited his bright yellow Hummer and strode distractedly through a sprinkling of Hollywood hotties into a hip Melrose Avenue restaurant, where he joined his homeboys from Queens, New York: the quartet’s de facto leader, up-and-coming movie star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier); former pizza boy-cum-talent manager, Eric Murphy (Kevin Connolly); and Vince’s half-brother, out-of-work C-list actor Johnny “Drama” Chase (Kevin Dillon).

Cut to 2015 and, with nothing but blue skies and bright sun overhead, Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Entourage” opens on the familiar trio of manager-cum-movie producer Eric, drive-cum-tequila mogul Turtle, and still sometime working actor Drama.  But this time they’re navigating the wide-open sea in a speed boat, their destination a huge luxury yacht off the coast of Ibiza, where Vince, rising actor-turned-megastar, “mourns” the demise of his five-day marriage, surrounded by 200 or so of his closest acquaintances…mainly of the scantily clad female variety.  But it wouldn’t be a party without his boys, and clearly the party is back on.

What you need to know about City vs Beach UV Exposure

At a time when we face an abundance of choices in how, when, and why we use products, so have sunscreen products slowly evolved from being solely used at the beach during summertime to a daily skin care staple. The message is clear: not only is it important to prevent sunburn, it is equally important to prevent rapid skin aging and deeper cellular damage.

Daylong, a dermatological suncare brand from the makers of Cetaphil, is the first to explicitly advocate daily sunscreen application. In its recent efforts to support its cause, Daylong conducted a UV-exposure study to investigate whether the outdoor sun at the beach shows the same level of strength in the city – even when indoors.

Together with five Filipina urbanites – Jaymie Pizarro, Jackie Go, Marj Sia, Janeena Chan, and Marie Lozano – Daylong used sun sensors to track daily UV exposures in Metro Manila for a week. From day to night, their daily activities were recorded, even when indoors.

The study showed that in Metro Manila, the daily UV Index recorded reaches up to 10 from 12nn to 1pm, which places a ‘Very High’ risk from unprotected sun exposure. Comparing the city’s UV index to Caticlan (Boracay) and El Nido (Palawan), and data showed both summer destinations also reach UV Index 10 during the same hours.
