Teejay Marquez made a career shift to Indonesia in 2016 to try his luck there. And indeed, he found himself a second home and starred in several local television programs. The shift was challenging to him, as started from scratch and as he had to learn to speak Bahasa Indonesia and get to know the culture there.
Before this, he is known to be Kapuso star and appeared in several shows and films like Marka, The Basement, and Dubsmash The Movie. With his quirky social media posts and charismatic face, this made him a Instagram millionaire with 1.7 million followers.
We became immersed with Indonesian projects which grew his fanbase there. Last August 2017, he signed up with Arnold Vegafria’s management outfit, ALV Talent Circuit, and at the same time signed up with Regal Entertainment.
In Indonesia, some of his projects were Gen Z, Hitam Ptih, Ini Talkshow, Girl Night Out, and Katakan Putus. He was also chosen to be part of Siapa Takut Katij Cinta (Who’s Afraid to Fall In Love?), an adaptation of Taiwan's Meteor Garden.
Now he is back in the Philippines to focus again on his career at home. Also he wanted to be near his grandmother who is ill due to kidney failure. For now, his return to Indonesia is still uncertain as he wants to make sure that she would be in a better health. Though it would mean that his Indonesian fans would have to wait, they can still follow him in his social media and his very own app.
“It’s all about me – photos, videos, updates, and even games. Users can win prizes. When we launched in Indonesia, we had a game and the winner flew to Manila to have a date with me, all-expenses paid. We will be launching that very soon here in Manila,” he proudly shares. The app is currently available for Android and Apple devices.
For now he has been doing mall shows and endorsements which some are yet to be revealed. However, in his recent post with director Laurenti Dyogi and Chief Operating Officer of broadcast for ABS-CBN Cory Vidanes, this hints that he will have projects with the Kapamilya Network. He will also be part of a future film directed by Adolf Alix, Jr.
