Payoneer Forum Opens More Insights For The Growing Digital Economy

Payoneer regional head and country manager Miguel Warren
offers support for the SME BPOs and freelance professionals
and help enable their businesses to go global.
Global fintech company Payoneer successfully staged their flagship event, “The Payoneer Forum: Go Beyond and Expand Globally” recently held at the SM Aura SMX Convention Center in Taguig City.

In addition to attracting Manila-based freelancers, business owners and online entrepreneurs to the forum, Payoneer also flew in several delegates from the provinces for free in order to include enterprising Pinoys from the rural areas.

The forum provided information and ideas for the growing community of Filipino digital entrepreneurs, startup BPOs and freelancers, equipping them with knowledge about industry trends and expanding a business globally.

Miguel Warren, Payoneer Philippines country manager and regional head, led the event outlining the company’s mission to empower Filipino digital entrepreneurs, all over the country, to go global.

DICT undersecretary Mon Ibrahim addresses the crowd at
The Payoneer Forum.
“We’ve been to more than 30 cities all over the Philippines, spoken to thousands of freelance professionals, online agencies and SME BPOs (small medium enterprise business process outsourcing) and enabled hundreds of millions of dollars to flow between businesses in different countries. The goal of events like this is to get closer to our customers, better understand their needs, and provide a proper context within which to deliver our solutions and add value,” Warren stated.

In his speech, Warren shared insights revealed by Payoneer customers.

“One of the key things that keeps coming back whenever we are talking to an agency in Iligan or a small I.T. firm in Baguio is that desire for global growth. ‘How do I get more business? How will I expand to other countries? How do I work with more clients?’ Today, that’s what we hope to bring you with our amazing list of speakers,” he said.

The Payoneer Forum Manila featured a line-up of speakers who generously shared their expertise and experiences in the industry. Among those speakers included Derek Gallimore, founder, Outsource Accelerator; Paolo Baltao, senior vice president, Union Bank of the Philippines; Marvin Galang, founder, JuanTax; Ej Arboleda, CEO, Taxumo, Inc.; David Sudolsky, CEO and founder, Boldr; and Chris Gallegos, president and co-founder, Insboss.

Industry experts shared their experiences with digital entrepreneurs,
freelance professionals and SME BPOs present at the event.
DICT (Department of Information and Communications Technology) Undersecretary Mon Ibrahim also showed support by gracing The Payoneer Forum. He underscored the potentials of Filipino I.T. and BPO entrepreneurs in the rural areas.

“The future of work is in the Philippines. You go out there to far-flung countryside places and you see people there working from home providing services globally. We just need to continue working together because this is definitely changing the lives of Filipinos. These people don’t have to go to Metro Manila or Cebu or major cities [anymore]. We will continue

this with your help and hopefully the next batch of government people would truly understand that the key for improving the lives of Filipinos is to bring opportunities in the countryside,” Ibrahim declared.

The Manila leg of The Payoneer Forum caps off a year of Payoneer holding a series of forums in key cities all over the Philippines. This initiative is seen as Payoneer’s commitment to build and grow the digital economy in the country in addition to bringing low-cost cross-border payments products and services that make it safe, secure and convenient for freelance professionals, online outsourcing agencies, SME BPOs and digital entrepreneurs to conduct financial transactions worldwide.
