JBK, Fifth Dynamics release independent debut albums

Emerging Filipino boy band JBK and pop-rock band Fifth Dynamics independently released their much-anticipated debut albums more than a year after winning the grand champion trophies of “Dreams Get Real: The Search For The Next OPM Star”—an annual talent search mounted by popular gentleman’s brand, McJim Classic Leather. 

JBK’s self-titled album and Fifth Dynamics’ “Pogi Kame” feature fresh tracks that cater to a broad base of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) listeners. The albums were produced by talent manager and public relations expert Chris Cahilig and arranged by internationally recognized arranger and composer Jonathan Ong of Sonic State Studio.

Sustaining its support for world-class Filipino designers, long established gentlemen’s brand, McJim Classic Leather, supported renowned fashion designer Avel Bacudio at the Style Origin 2015, which was held last June 20 in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

“McJim Classic Leather celebrates world-class Filipino talents! The brand is out there to support global artists like Avel Bacudio and do collaborations with them or support them in any way possible to produce great outputs,” McJim Classic Leather said in an official statement.

With chart-topping and viral hits; malls, bars and corporate gigs across the country; and radio and television guest appearances, last year’s triple-tie winners—Fifth Dynamics, JBK, and Neo Domingo—are already rocking the music scene after McJim took a chance on them and helped them with the direction of their careers.

After successfully launching the careers of three of the most promising acts today, iconic brand McJim Classic Leather opens doors of opportunity for aspiring stars to become legitimate recording artists in the second season of “Dreams Get Real : The Search for the Next OPM Star. ”

“This year, we aim to make Dreams Get Real talent search even bigger, brighter, and better. We are now offering a full album and music video grant, P100,000 in cash prize, artist marketing support, and a talent management contract to the sole winner!“ said Chris Cahilig, Dreams Get Real project head.

Last year’s triple-tie winners, Fifth Dynamics, JBK and Neo Domingo, are rocking the music scene after recording chart-topping hits and are busy with television guest appearances, and mall and corporate shows across the country. The talents are likewise completing their debut albums produced by award-winning arranger and composer Jonathan Ong of SonicState Studio.

THREE aspiring musical acts were declared grand champions in the maiden edition of “Dreams Get Real: The Search for the Next OPM Star” organized by McJim Classic Leather held on Monday night (June 30) at Teatrino in Promenade, Greenhills, 

Shining on stage with their unique performances and proving that they could be the next big thing in Original Pilipino Music (OPM) were band Fifth Dynamics, vocal trio JBK and solo performer Neo Domingo.


Six promising OPM acts battle it out in “Dreams Get Real” talent search finals

Would it be a band, a boy band, or a solo act?

Getting a crack on being the next Original Pilipino Music (OPM) star are the Top 6 of “Dreams Get Real,” a music talent search organized by McJIM Classic Leather. Battling it out in the decisive grand finals slated on June 30 are Archetype, CK Arca, Dream of Pearl, Fifth Dynamics, JBK and Neo Domingo. 

In the run up for the grand finals, the Top 6 have recorded and released their debut singles in radio stations nationwide and be featured in MTV Pinoy for the month of June. A jury composed of music industry stalwarts led by project head and public relations executive Chris Cahilig and multi-awarded arranger Jonathan Ong of Sonic State Studio will take into consideration radio airplay, radio chart and Youtube views as well as overall potential in selecting the grand winner.

And The 2013 Elan Award Goes To...

Well, lets give you a little breather for that moment to guess among the 12 finalist landed on the top spot in each category of the 2013 Elan Awards by McJim Classic Leather search for the modern Filipino Gentleman. Chivalry and Class is not dead with the roster of 12 gentlemen who are part of different sectors of society and are celebrities and well-respected by their peers and the public.

The search was not easy and quick, from the nomination, to the selection via a panel of judges, to the online voting that has triggered a lot of hits for the McJim Classic Leather facebook page, is a meticulous process so that it would be transparent who will be the "Ultimate Filipino Gentleman."

As the voting would take the longest duration, there has been changes in rankings and also support from fans of the 12 contenders. But what is also interesting about this award would be the prizes the winner will receive.

Five celebrities vie for the Elan Awards

Since voting began last June 17 in McJIM Classic Leather Official Facebook Page, supporters have pushed the names Christian Bautista, Xian Lim, Dingdong Dantes, Coco Martin and Piolo Pascual to the forefront, giving us a foretaste of a heated competition among some of the most bankable celebrities today.

Coming both from the Kapamilya and Kapuso networks, they each portray unique roles in television and film and have different strengths and talents but what draws them together is their self-confidence that comes from having proven something of value.

Who will the Elan Awards Filipino Gentleman of 2013?

This is not the search for the next Psy but the ultimate Pinoy gentleman that embodies the qualities of a successful and made man and now for the first time the Elan Awards presented by McJim will now recognize the Man of the year with the search for the Modern Filipino Gentleman.

On the launch last Monday, the 12 finalists were announced with the judges and the organizing team. From a long list from the open nomination now it has come down to 12 men who will now on the final phase with the public voting who will be the emerge the sole victor.

The voting happens on the McJim Classic Leather Facebook Page which have a link to the application for the voting process. One vote for each category for each facebook account. This means you have three votes and it can be the same or different person for that category. Votes will then be tallied and will be the basis for the winner of the award. The list of the nominees are listed after the jump. Hurry because the  voting period will end on August 2, 2013.
