MUSIC LYF: Gloc-9 - MKNM (Mga Kwento Ng Makta) BlogCon

After the launch of Gloc-9's new album MKNM, I really loved the songs in the album which I have also made into the first Listening Room Album Review. Yet there were actually some things I still want to ask him with his new album and his new recording label under Universal Records Philippines. Luckily, they had a Gloc-9 Bloggers' Conference in cooperation with Pinoy Magazine, Franci Magalona Clothing Company, Lionheart.tv and Universal Records.

MUSIC LYF: TEEN IDOLS' Sam Concepcion & Julie Anne San Jose Covers 'Pinoy Mag' March -April 2012!

Respected Filipino music magazine, Pinoy Mag may have spilled the beans months ago before the photo shoot took place for their March/ April 2012 issue.  Teen Idols: Sam Concepcion and Julie Anne San Jose graces the front cover of Pinoy Mag, available on stands starting March 29th!

A photo of the two surfaced in the Pinoy Magazine Facebook Fanpage preparing for their shoot last February 28. Also on that same day while the photo shoot is on-going, the term “SamLieonPinoyMag” trended on micro-blogging site Twitter at the 6th spot after the said posting. Respective fans of these two seem like this new team up from rival networks. Some even called them as “dream tandem” although both were also being paired with different artists.

March 1, two days after the said photo shoot, Pinoy Mag posted a video duet of Sam and Julie singing the chorus part of Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown's “No Air” and a fan named AmBootSalmo posted that video on YouTube  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RYVaehzlv3s) and garnered 50,000 views in a span of five days. Here are some of the comments posted about the said duet video:
27Pochie: “They've got the talent, looks, and oozing chemistry I think the comfortability with each other helps them to relax and look good together. As to what I have learned both parties did have fun and that is a major major factor thinking that they worked alone for the first time. Hope someone can hear them and give them the opportunity to make a collab and hopefully more to come. People are saying nothing but good praise. Congrats more to come.”

MUSIC LYF: Bloggers' Night With Sabrina

Its very rare for Filipinos to enter the music market of Asian countries because of a lot of factors and of course competition with local and other Asian music artists. But I was surprized that another Filipina musician made waves in the South East Asian market and also reach platinum status for her album, she is Sabrina Orial or simply SABRINA has became sucessful with her covers such as "Price Tag" and "Move Like Jagger".

“I Love Acoustic 4” is now certified PLATINUM in Indonesia (the album turned GOLD November of 2011). This makes Sabrina one of the few Filipino singers to have multi-platinum success in Indonesia which other singers have tried but failed to penetrate. “I Love Acoustic 4” was also released in Thailand and soon in Singapore and Malaysia. Her previous albums “I Love Acoustic”, “I Love Acoustic Too and “I Love Acoustic 3” were multi-platinum success in those countries- the only Filipino female singer to break in successfully in the South East Asian market. Her huge following abroad is now translating locally as the album is still in retail charts where it debuted at #1 at Astroplus and #9 at Odyssey upon its first week of release. Because of her success abroad, she became a recipient of the “International Achievement Award at the recent Awit Awards where she also took home the I-Gateway Mobile Philippines, Inc.'s Most Downloaded Artist for 2010.

The album also includes the tracks “Price Tag,” “Who Says”, “Edge of Glory”, “On The Floor”, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”, “California King Bed”, “Hold It Against Me”, “Rolling In The Deep”, “The Lazy Song”, “Back To December”, “That Should Be Me”, “Marry Me”, “Rocketeer”, “Just The Way You Are” featuring Indonesian singer Calvin Jeremy and “Lucky” featuring multi-platinum crooner Richard Poon.

“I Love Acosutic 4” by Sabrina is now out in CDs under MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines) and available for download at mymusicstore.com.ph.
