Runmanila offers new sound in debut single RUN

After years of working with Runmanila’s unique sound, band members Kevin Lim (Vocals, Sound Effects), Aaron Cruz (Programming, Guitars, Synthesizers), JR Jader (Electronics, Beats, Electro Drums) and Ignacio Cuyegkeng (Guitars, Synthesizers, Sound effects) is now ready to take their music to another level – by releasing their debut single RUN and eventually their own EP. The EP is produced by Universal Records.

RUN is a catchy, upbeat tune that perfectly describes the kind of music the band wants to offer to the public – in their own words, “we want to call it ElectroPopRock -where rock meets dance, head banging meets booty shaking, rock moves plus dance grooves.”

MUSIC LYF: Imagine Dragons - Night Visions (ALbum)

CERTIFIED RIAA PLATINUM IN THE US

Album Is Top 10 on Billboard 200, 40 Weeks On The Chart

June 14, 2013 – Santa Monica, CA – KIDinaKORNER / Interscope recording artist IMAGINE DRAGONS’debut album, Night Visions is certified platinum by the RIAA. Night Visions, released on September 4, 2012 entered the Billboard Top 200 Chart at #2 with the best first week sales for a full-length debut by a new rock band in over six years. Imagine Dragons crosses a monumental threshold; according to Nielsen SoundScan, since 2008 there have been 25 rock bands to sell over one million copies, only three of which were for debut albums.

MUSIC LYF: Domino - Manis (Album)

The artist: This woman’s music career started in grade school, when she sang a Filipino folk song on stage. A few years after, she then recorded her first album “Fair Tales”, in which she realized that music was indeed her lifelong calling.. She’s definitely no diva or pop princess though. If you see Lally Buendia aka Domino in person, you know that with her leather-wearing vibe and blunt, edgy ‘do, she’s sharp and feisty and she surely won’t sing you any love song. But worry not because she just might, in her latest album Mantis.

On Mantis : Two years in the making, Lally would write songs on days when she was on either side of her emotional spectrum. She believes this album is her unabashed attempt to come out and kick ass. She was also tremendously lucky to have worked with a motley crew of brilliant artists in the music scene – Ely Buendia (Pupil, The Oktaves), Pat Tirano (TOI), Jerome Velasco (Daydream Cycle), Jazz Nicolas (The Itchyworms), Mikey Amistoso (Ciudad, Hannah+Gabi), and Eric Perlas (COG) who co-produced the album. Japs Sergio (Peso Movement, Daydream Cycle) co-wrote 2 songs and Aldus Santos (The Purplechickens) wrote a track and recorded guitars and vocals for it. Clem Castro (The Camerawalls) and Wendell Garcia (Pupil) also played on a couple of tracks. Having grown up in a family where everyone’s into music of all sorts, you’ll be able to hear strains of these genres in all her songs. And as she is never one to box out her band in one category, she defines Domino’s music as a fusion of everything, easily one that she would like to listen to, just probably with more bits of pop in it, as this is her biggest influence.

MUSIC LYF: Alden Richards Goes Personal in Debut Album

Alden des not need to be controversial to be noticed by the public, his charm as the boy next door and charisma works silently as his career buds into a whole new level with coming up with his own self-titled album under Universal Records.

We got a copy of his album which will be part of Listening Room soon, and also we loved the magazine-like album design which stands out among the OPM albums launched this year.

GMA's young leading man Alden Richards admits that his debut album under Universal Records speaks a lot about him. The album, which includes his cover of memorable hits - Shamrock's Haplos, Rey Valera's Naalala Ka, Ichyworm's Akin Ka Na Lang, among others, is a testament to Alden's young romantic side.

MUSIC LYF LISTENING ROOM: Richard Poon - Legends

Last month Richard Poon shared his latest album LEGENDS under Universal records, as well as the news that he and Maricar Reyes will get married. Here at Listening Room, he is one of the first OPM artist to be featured in this section for Music Lyf.

This is Richard's new album is also his first with the label and also a slightly different feel from the big band genre but I do love the album as it is a great chill album, in these times of most of the other songs out there belt their hearts out this brings us back to basics and also appreciate smooth and easy music.

Now lets listen to Legends:

MUSIC LYF: LAURA FYGI performs in Manila, June 24!

Come and experience a night of jazz and magical performance as Laura Fygi visits Manila for the first time on June 24, 2013, 8pm at Fairmont Raffles Hotel in Makati City. The show is called “A Magical Night with Laura Fygi” and presented by Laurel Media.

Everywhere that Laura Fygi visits, she is a veritable vision of exotica. In her home country of the Netherlands, they know her as the woman who was raised in Uruguay as the daughter of an Egyptian belly dancer; in the Far East she is the emancipated Western lady who many others aspire to be. But wherever she may be, there’s one common factor in all of those locations: that instantly recognisable voice which has won her hearts all over the globe.

Her travel-packed lifestyle has provided her with the most amazing experiences, as Laura has been a welcome return visitor to Asia for years. As a Dutch singer, being loved most by Asian countries, especially in China, has already been one great achievement for her.

The Morning Episodes making waves on U.S. Radio

OPM is definitely not dead; at least the spirit of it isn’t. It lives and thrives in the heart of every impassioned musician who remains true to their talent; fueled by self-expression, dedication to their craft and a drive to be heard, these bastions of the industry hoist the flag of originality on local shores, and – for those fortunate enough – beyond.

Such is the case for singer-songwriter Miguel Escueta, and his newly re-launched band, The Morning Episodes. Their single Now It Starts, which was well-received locally, made its debut on US radio in April of this year.

Just two weeks after its US debut, the catchy, upbeat pop-rock tune landed on the US National Airplay Top 200 Chart, ranking #107 overall, and #40 among Indie Artists.

MUSIC LYF: Living Things World Tour: Linkin Park Live in Manila 2013

It has been years, since their last concert here in Manila. So LP fans will definitely attend this rare event that has now become a dream come true to the "soldiers".

Linkin Park is a rock-alternative band behind the hits "Crawling", "In The End", "Lost in the Echo", "Castle of Glass" and many more. I will definitely be in this concert!

MUSIC LYF: Fall Out Boy Magic According To Chicosci

Four years of recording hiatus could have affected the popularity of the Grammy award-winning Fall Out Boy in unfavorable way, especially with how music fans quickly turn over their attention to every exciting band act on the rise and eventually forget those who lay low.

That is not the case with FOB which still proved to be a force to reckon with after their latest single "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)” immediately made an impact, lording the singles chart in the US in almost no time.

Their newly released album "Save Rock And Roll' debuted at number 1 in the US Billboard 200 albums list with sales of more than 150,000 units in just one week of hitting the market.

MUSIC LYF: John Rendez Returns to Rap Recording

With a lot of new rap stars now, its hard to find the artists who started with the "old school" style which paved the careers of rappers like Francis Magalona. But through the years, these rappers either shifted to a different genre or migrated to a different county which made the rap scene a little obscure and branched far from its roots.

Now a returning artist, John Rendez came back to launch his new album under Polyeast Records with the album "Metaldog". Not to be confused with Pitbull or Fliptop artists, John Rendez wants to be known in the music industry with that title with his rap which brings the sound style of the 90s and upgrades that can grab the attention of the present generation.

He might be on the same age range of he popular rap artists, he is very confident that his style stands out among the hiphop artists now. With his first album relased back in the 90s, he still have what it takes to make good tracks that can get the attention of the new rap generation.
