HADSAP brings advocacy on nutrition education to where it’s needed most

The Health and Dietary Supplement Association of the Philippines (HADSAP) has done its share over the years, to ensure that education on basic nutrition in the Philippines remains ongoing.  This year however, HADSAP decided it was time to cascade that education to those who need it most, young mothers with young families at the grassroots level.

“Typically, kids between the ages one to five the are the most at risk of malnutrition.  That’s where you start, if there are nutrient deficiencies early on in life, then you will have a harder time catching up later on so that’s why you address them during the first five years of life.  So that’s why we targeted moms with young families in particular.” Shared HADSAP President Leni Olmedo, country manager of Amway Philippines.

Amway’s Nutrilite PhytoPowder: Hydration, nutrition, supplementation in a single convenient drink

Rehydration is absolutely vital, especially for those who live active lifestyles.  For oral rehydration, the new gold standard is Amway’s Nutrilite PhytoPowder.  No other drink on the market offers the benefits of Nutrilite PhytoPowder, and the fact that it comes in convenient foil stick packs means you can drink it anywhere there is drinking water.  PhytoPowder is truly a rehydration solution like no other.

It is no secret that the human body is mostly water, but science has shown that when we sweat, drink too much alcohol, or when we have diarrhea, we lose not just water but the ability to retain water.  This is because the electrolytes that allow the human body to retain water are in fact water soluble.  The water we lose as we sweat heavily also washes away electrolytes as we lose it.

This is why electrolyte drinks are more effective for oral rehydration than water alone.  The infusion of electrolytes quickly restores the body’s ability to maintain the correct percentage of water, something that we literally need in order to survive.  However, it has been known for some time that apart from water and electrolytes we also lose water soluble vitamins, such as Vitamin B Complex, and Vitamin C.

Amway addresses a woman’s aging needs with Nutrilite Hair, Skin and Nails Complex

Aging is a sensitive issue. It is never the same for women as it is for men, as women undergo much more radical physiological changes as they age. As women get older, physiological milestones such as menstruation, motherhood and menopause create something akin to a hormonal roller coaster. These, combined with environmental factors such as pollution, UV rays from the sun and even stress result in dry skin, brittle and breakable hair, and soft, weak nails over the years. Amway, through NUTRILITETM addresses this problem with a supplement that specifically addresses these problems— NutriliteTM Hair, Skin and Nails Complex.

Apart from monitoring a pet’s food intake, assessing its weight regularly is one of the principal steps in supporting good pet health. Pets become increasingly exposed to obesity and other common nutritional diseases when they do not follow an appropriate diet and lack physical activity. Evaluating the pet’s weight regularly can help ensure that it remains at an ideal weight to reduce the risk of developing serious health problems such as heart disease, breathing problems, diabetes, and cancer.

Achieving good nutrition with everyday Filipino meals

GOOD HEALTH IS A CHOICE. We can choose
foods rich in micronutrients—these are
usually fruits and vegetables. Even a
sandwich can be a healthy snack if it
has vegetables in it. Take Centrum
vitamins and minerals supplement along
with a healthy diet to make sure you
get complete nutrition.
OUR HEALTH depends on the nutrition and energy we get from the meals we eat. The question is: Are we really getting enough nutrients from the foods we consume every day?

If we want to perform at our peak level at work, in sports, in school, or even when having fun with relatives and friends, we need to make sure that we are getting complete nutrition on a daily basis.

However, our busy lifestyles often require us to eat what’s most conveniently available at the time. Many times, we don’t get to choose the most nutritious food possible. As a result, we have gaps in our daily nutrition intake.

According to Rommel Tinio, M.D., who specializes in occupational and nutritional medicine, most people nowadays are sorely lacking in vitamins and minerals. Dr. Tinio is a biochemist and a medical doctor. He operates his own clinic, Health Asia Medical Clinic in Makati, where he treats patients using nutrition therapies and coaching on how they can use the proper diet to maintain their health

Pagtutulungan.Org: UNICEF celebrates Global Breastfeeding Week by taking the message beyond health clinics

During World Breastfeeding Week, UNICEF joins global partners in calling for the benefits of breastfeeding to be broadcast beyond clinics and delivery rooms to the public at large, ensuring that young people both in the developing world and in wealthier countries understand the importance of breastfeeding long before they become parents.

Breastfeeding is directly linked to reducing the death toll of children under five, yet only 36 per cent of infants under six months old in developing countries are exclusively breastfed. In the Philippines, only 34% of mothers exclusively breastfeed their babies for 6 months, and the number drops to 2% at one year. One of the factors is the lack of a strong enabling environment that supports breastfeeding mothers.
