This year, after a lot of nominations and careful deliberation, they finally found the candidate which they embodies what the awards stands for. This year, they have chosen Fr. Maximo Barbero, SJ, also known as Fr. Barbi, chaplain of the Philippine General Hospital. The award was presented by Mrs. Helen Y. Dee, Chairman of the Alfonso Yuchengco Foundation and Mr. Patrick Chua, 2018 STCA Chairman, on September 12th at the Alfonso Sycip Executive Lounge, 47th Floor Yuchengco Tower, RCBC Plaza in Makati City.

Olympian Michael Martinez Is Back And Buff!

Philippines' Winter Olympian Michael Martinez comes back home to pursue new heights in his career. Though he might have put his skates aside, his passion for the sport still continues. His presence was quite quiet in the past few years as he stayed in the US and even got a day job.

His online presence is still followed by fans and was very surprised with his transformation from a lean teenager now buffed up as he also grew in size and even got the Olympic rings tattooed on his chest. Now 21, he said that his comeback here in the Philippines will also mean meeting brands and partners which will open old and new partnerships for him.

Though he was quite disappointed when he failed to qualify for the recent Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, he will continue to work to make the Olympic dream come true. He shared that made a successful quad axel jump which was considered an impossible feat for competitive figure skating.

“GINUGUNITA KITA” Arts All Set On Sept 26

In line with its 18th year anniversary celebration, The Maningning Miclat Art Foundation Inc. in cooperation with District Gallery - Artist Playground, and the Far Eastern University President’s Committee on Culture presents “GINUGUNITA KITA,” a performance art featuring Maningning Miclat’s poems and an all original music composed by Jesse Lucas.

“GINUGUNITA KITA” will be held on September 26 – Wednesday 6 p.m. at the historic, newly-opened FEU Auditorium located at Nicanor Reyes St., Sampaloc, Manila.

Maningning Miclat was a poet, fictionist and essayist in English, Filipino and Chinese as well as a painter in Western and Chinese genre. A Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate in UP Diliman, she was a fellow of the U.P. National Writer's Workshop, Silliman Writer's Workshop and Rio Alma Poetry Clinic. Her Chinese poems made her one of the top-rated women poets in Chinese in the world.
