REEL DEAL: Oblivion REVIEW

Now that the world did not end in 2012, there is still a lot of possibilities in the future that can haunt our imagination and memories. Its gives us a new perception on new sci-fi movies that would have that theme. And one of the those movies would be OBLIVION.

Tom Cruise stars in OBLIVION, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one mans confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind. Based on the Graphic Novel Original Concept by Joseph Kosinsk

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jacks mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.
Oblivion was shot in stunning digital 4K resolution on location across the United States and Iceland.

OBLIVION also stars Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo. Directed by Joseph Kosinski.

OBLIVION is distributed by United International Pictures and Solar Entertainment Corporation. Open in Theaters and IMAX April 10, 2013 which is 9 days earlier than the US Release dates!

Deliberation time kids!

Show summary in 3 lines: (In) Memory of Earth
Technical Effects: 5 out of 5 stars (Though we are used to many disaster effects, I would have to say that aside from CGI, they also made a good job in production design)
Plot: 5 out of 5 stars (Very deep with almost no room for loopholes which would make you like to discuss it even after the movie, probably days even)
Acting and Actors: 4 out of 5 stars  (Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman, do we need to say more?)
Music and Soundtracks:  3 out for 5 stars (Good line up of sound effects and soundtracks, but it gave way to highlight the characters and the story)
Pros:  CGI, Plot, Actors, Production Design,
Cons:  Long scenes that would bore some people, Similarities of design to other futuristic movies
Overall Rating: 4.4 out of 5 stars (At first I though I would have that same formula or a similar plot with previous movies, but it proved me wrong and now I found my self thinking of the scenes again and again)
