REEL DEAL: Bayang Magiliw REVIEW

Indie Movies were originally made to push advocacy, but with many of the "Indies" going mainstream and becomes a mix with the commercial films, you may wonder where are the original advocacy films. This is what the pro-RH movie BAYANG MAGILIW is all about. To tell you honestly, I'm not really a RH advocate and thought that the movie was a musical, but it gives a justified portrayal of issue revolving about the controversial bill.

Bayang Magiliw tells the story of a town in Quezon called Magiliw where Reproductive Health is considered a serious crime. Magiliw is the country’s most densely populated city next to Metro Manila. It is headed by a mayor who is secretly a womanizer and has already fathered a lot of illegitimate children.

Two incidents cause a chain of events that will rock Magiliw. One day an old aristocratic couple from Magiliw finds an abandoned baby boy and decided to nurture him. Their daughter, a corporate lawyer based in Manila adopted the abandoned baby boy. Later on, trouble ensues after the mayor found out that the baby boy is his illegitimate child. The other incident involves a local OB-gyne who was sent to jail for prescribing contraceptives to the women of Magiliw. Not long enough, the doctor meets the corporate lawyer and together they fought against the mayor.
BAYANG MAGILIW also stars Jackielou Blanco, Lloyd Sammartino, Racquel Villavicencio, Princess Manzon, Ellen Adarna, Aaron Yanga

Bayang Magiliw is directed by Gil Portes and  brought to you by SM Cinema via CinExclusives. Now Showing in Theaters.
