32 Contestants Revealed for "Mr. and Miss Chinatown"

With our past deeply rooted with the Chinese, it is not surprizing that our genetic beauty is  prominent with rich Chinese heritage. And with many local beauties hailing from Chinese lineage, it would be fitting to have a beauty contest in search of the most beautiful and intelligent "Tsinoy" and "Tsinay".

Yesterday, the contestants of Mr. and Miss Chinatown were presented to the media at Lucky Chinatown Mall as they grow near the coronation night that will happen on June 30, aired on Sundays Best on ABS CBN. We were able to interview some of the female contestants who shared their experience as candidates and the activities that they have done.

ABS-CBN To Air First Ever "Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines"

ABS-CBN airs the first ever search for "Mr and Miss Chinatown" this June, following a deal signed by the network and the Miss Chinatown Foundation recently.

In what is to be a meeting of two cultures with shared values, "the search will redefine Filipino-Chinese beauty, pave way for better business relations, and realize cultural and artistic goals," says Alexis Sy Go, the national director for Mr and Miss Chinatown. 

During the launch held in Binondo Manila, a total of 32 Filipino-Chinese candidate, split equally between females and males, aged 18-25, were formally presented to the media and will compete for the prestigious title to represent the Filipino-Chinese community in the country by the end of the month.

The female candidates include Jerene Tan, Robyn Kimberly Tan, Michelle Marie Sy, Rolini Lim Pineda, Jaime Chua Reyes, Lhowelle Lyka Tan, Sheryl Elaine Chua, Samantha Jade Dy, Maricon Cho, Hannah Dy, Frances Elaine Cham, Kimberly Nicole Ang Mas, Aeryka Chua, Catrina Myka De Guzman Ang, Catherine Yao, and Anna Patricia Baesa Tan.

Meanwhile the male candidates will be represented by Oliver Chen, Glen Kevin Choa, Sydney Du, Glen Andrew Magante, Josse Miguel Lasala, Alvis Lim, Jaime Ripoll, Randy See, Bruce Willis Wo Sing, JOhn Christopher Sy, Arthur Emmanuel Tan, Frederick Jan Bee Tan, Jerome Edward Tan, Sheng-han Yang, Francis Kevin Yao and John Patrick Yap.

The candidates from the "Mr and Miss Chinatown," according to the organizers are a strong mix of contemporary men and women that come from some of the country's most prestigious universities such as Ateneo De Manila University, De La Salle University, the University of Santo Tomas, and the Universty of Asia and the Pacific, majoring in a wide range of specialized courses from Entreprenurial to Psychology, and even to Interior and Fashion Design.

ABS-CBN and the Miss Chinatown Foundation deem this as an even to open doorways towards unified communities and better goals - begining with a celebration of shared valies of the Filipino and Chinese communities and cultures, ultimately geared towards strengthening the fusion of the two in hning and chaping the potential of the generation.

Watch out for the Grand Coronation set this month and will air live on ABS-CBN on June 30.
