GMA local programs continue strong performance in the regions

The country’s most trusted broadcast news organization GMA News and Public Affairs, through its roster of locally-produced programs, continues to lord over its TV5 counterparts in the regions for the period of May 2013 as exhibited by household ratings data from the industry’s more widely recognized ratings service provider, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

For the whole month of May in Metro Cebu, GMA's Balitang Bisdak posts an average of 10.4 percent, ahead of TV5's Aksyon Bisaya’s 6.8 percent by 3.6 points and TV5’s national newscast Aksyon’s 9.4 percent by 1.0 point.

In Dagupan, top rating GMA local newscast Balitang Amianan keeps its lead as it registers an average of 10.5 percent, higher than TV5’s T3 Reload’s 6.7 percent by 3.8 points and TV5's Aksyon’s 7.0 percent by 3.5 points.

GMA's Testigo Southern Mindanao in Davao is a clear winner scoring 10.5 percent, 7.1 points ahead of TV5’s T3 Reload’s 3.4 percent and up by 6.4 points against TV5's Aksyon’s 4.1 percent.

In Iloilo, GMA's Ratsada delivers 15.5 percent beating TV5's T3 Reload’s 3.6 percent by 11.9 points as well as TV5's Aksyon’s 2.9 percent by 12.6 points.

Not to be outdone are GMA local morning programs Buena Mano Balita (Cebu), Primera Balita (Dagupan), Una Ka Bai (Davao) and Arangkada (Iloilo) -- all winning over their TV5 counterparts in their respective timeslots by considerable margins.

Moreover, GMA maintains its lead over TV5 across all areas based on total day audience share generated for the period of May 1-31. In NUTAM, GMA posts an average of 30.6 percent ahead by 16.8 points from TV5’s 13.8 percent.

Meanwhile, in Urban Luzon, GMA registers 34.6 percent, up by 21.5 points from TV5’s 13.1 percent. Mega Manila, in turn, delivers an even bigger margin with 36.0 percent, ahead of TV5’s 14.1 percent by 21.9 points.

The Kapuso Network also keeps it edge over TV5 in Vis-Min. GMA scores an average of 18.2 percent in Urban Visayas versus TV5’s 17.9 percent. And in Urban Mindanao, GMA records 16.5 percent versus TV5’s 13.9 percent.

"In the Visayas and Mindanao, we are working hard so our local programs cater to the specific needs of our viewers. We hope that as we continue to gain ground, GMA's commitment and goal to be the Filipino's news authority is felt in our local and national news and public affairs programs. We thank our viewers and advertisers for patronizing Kapuso programs as we pledge more improvements in our delivery of news and information in line with Serbisyong Totoo," said Rikki Escudero, GMA Vice President for Regional TV and Head, Expansion & Production Services of GMA News and Public Affairs.
