An Appeal To The Filipino Voter... #DirtyFinger2013

This is repost from my original personal blog at www.fpjjr.blogspot.com. I posted this one so that more people can read this and also serve as a wake up call to do change in the society by voting wisely for the right candidate this 2013 election. Don't forget to use the hashtag #DirtyFinger2013 for your insights and also personal experience this day.

As elections grow nearer, the fate of the nation again is at hand. I may be a drop in the vast ocean, but I quote from the movie "Cloud Atlas" that "An ocean is a multitude of drops". I may not be famous, rather my nickname is, but I am entitled to speak my mind in this democratic country. It's my right, it is why I am here. And I do send out this simple appeal to the Filipino Voter, like me, that will elect the future administration leaders and legislators of the country.

First is the never ending slogan of VOTE WISELY. The term itself is what we wanted for a long time, and that is CHANGE. It is simple as choosing the candidate because you know that he/she is indeed qualified for that position and can deliver public service without smothering his name across town. Its as simple as choosing them with at least some background check and personal deliberation that he is the right and good person for the position. Never should you vote because your favorite artista says so, nor your parents dictates because you have this "utang na loob".

Utang na loob naman! You're already 18 (or above) and can't make a decision for yourself? Well that is a personal dilemma. Choosing the right candidate should be like choosing the person you will marry and spend the rest of your life with, or else face the consequences of bad marriage. And that will also happen in the government, when you chose the candidate because he entertains you. We already have showbiz to provide that, Politics is a place for professional yet humane adults.

Next is RESPECT. Yes BIG word as Laida would say. Elections should never be a time for dominance and slavery. This is democratic republic where everyone is never above the law. You can practice it by being respectful to the people who will work and risk their lives for your ballot. The police, the teachers, the peace officers, the canvassers  fellow voters and all people who makes sure that everything will go as planned. So far, we are now civilized people and even technologically savvy, but others choose to be bitches (dogs) and cavemen. If you have a problem with these people, go to the proper authorities and never make a scene. It's not your show, buddy.

Also don't forget to show discipline and love for nature but not contributing waste in the election areas. We always nag officials not doing their jobs while we also contribute to the problem. There are a lot of garbage bins but we choose to litter. Its like we are indeed in an Animal Farm. If we do want a progressive country, why you don't make your contribution? Else, your so fucking lazy to throw you trash...

That goes to the candidates as well, your campaign materials are made of wood, paper, plastic, tarpaulin and many other materials which are not biodegradable. Is it not enough that the road we walked bears your name? The walls are embedded with your photoshoped faces? How about thinking of a paperless campaign? you have my vote if you do.

You, and me, are Filipino voters. We have now automated elections, and now on the road to a better economy. Please, please and please NEVER screw it up with bad candidates that will lead us back to the dark ages. The country is made up of people like you and me, and were now almost 100 million in numbers. I may be just a drop, a buzz in your ear, a dirt in your eye, or lego to your feet, but hear me out. I want change and I know you do also, so don't be a fucking douchebag, while you whine your woes to the Philippine government  Do the right things, because if you think your small sins can be overlooked, then doing wrong has now been legalized.
