Captain Marvel - Did It Soar To Expectations?

For a movie that will headline a marvel Heroine, Captain Marvel faces a lot of high expectations and even comparing it to DC's Wonder Woman. Also as it comes before the upcoming Endgame movie this April, it seems that these are the biggest challenge Carol Danvers has to face aside from her enemies in the film.

Captain Marvel is indeed an origin movie that dates back to the 90's, one of the few films in the MCU which goes back in time like Captain America The First Avenger. Though this one is much more recent and key characters like Nick Fury and Agent Coulson appears in their more younger years.

Brie Larson takes on the character which involves the space beings like the Kree and Skrulls. Closely linked to Guardians of the Galaxy, the conflict goes  to Earth as Vers (Captain Marvel) was led to Earth to find a essential person that will reveal his past.

The film comes late in the MCU that despite the flair and power she possess, it seems like it was not exceptional in terms of innovation like Black Panther. But the story is essential in building the MCU with the plot and connections it has with the heroes, villains, and the infinity stones leading to Endgame.
But is it still worth it? I can still say yes. It is a good movie perfect for women's month, it also provided answers to a lot of question that are unanswered in the MCU like how Nick Fury lost his eye, and the fate of the intergalactic pager last seen on Infinity War. And it paves the way to Avengers Endgame by coming strong and not overdoing it.

Captain Marvel  stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Annette Bening, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.  Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, now showing in cinemas.

Deliberation time kids!

Film summary: MCU in the 90s

Quotable quote: “I've been fighting with one hand tied behind my back. What happens when I break free?” - Carol Danvers

Technical Effects: 4 out of 5 stars (Playful technical effects similar to Guardian and Thor, though these action scenes would work best with a darker plot)

Plot: 3 out of 5 stars (The plot twist was kinda expected which might have disappointed fans)

Acting and Actors: 3 out of 5 stars (Brie Larson looks great for the character but needs more depth as story might seem to be rushed.)

Pros:  Goose the cat, comedic Nick Fury, Captain Marvel's powers, 90's music!
Cons: Plot, fast-paced story

Music and Soundtracks:  4 out for 5 stars (Music by Pinar Toprak, though the songs that stands out are the pop songs of that decade.)

Overall: Rating 4.0 out of 5 stars (Still a win for the first Marvel female feature film as it was entertaining throughout, it just unfortunately was expected to also make a revolutionary wave.)
