Hyper-Modern Thriller "Searching" Tells Gripping Story Via Gadget Screens

Columbia Pictures’ new acclaimed film SEARCHING tells a hyper-modern thriller told via the technology and devices we use every day to communicate.

At the center of the mystery is beloved, missing daughter Margot (Michelle La), determined father David (John Cho) and sympathetic but no-nonsense Detective Vick (Debra Messing). They are brought together by Margot’s sudden and baffling disappearance. The hunt is abetted by our modern tools of communication – social media, texts, emails, a life played out in photos and video snippets, saved on computer files for safekeeping.

But all is not what it seems. We are what we hide in our mobile devices, which often conceal as much as they reveal. Our virtual identities are subjective constructs at best and David learns more about his daughter than he had ever known with every digital clue. In telling the story, the filmmakers use a screen-based language of storytelling that authentically depicts the way we interact today and explores the reality of a modern parent/child connection in the Internet age.

HADSAP brings advocacy on nutrition education to where it’s needed most

The Health and Dietary Supplement Association of the Philippines (HADSAP) has done its share over the years, to ensure that education on basic nutrition in the Philippines remains ongoing.  This year however, HADSAP decided it was time to cascade that education to those who need it most, young mothers with young families at the grassroots level.

“Typically, kids between the ages one to five the are the most at risk of malnutrition.  That’s where you start, if there are nutrient deficiencies early on in life, then you will have a harder time catching up later on so that’s why you address them during the first five years of life.  So that’s why we targeted moms with young families in particular.” Shared HADSAP President Leni Olmedo, country manager of Amway Philippines.

Pedro Pascal Shares a Brotherhood with Denzel in "The Equalizer 2"

Narcos and Game of Thrones standout Pedro Pascal now stars opposite Denzel Washington in Columbia Pictures’ nail-biting action-thriller The Equalizer 2.

Pascal plays York, one of four former colleagues of Washington’s character, McCall.

In the film, as McCall begins to take vengeance on the people who killed his former handler and adviser – he is brought back in contact with the people who were once closest to him: his former cell of operatives.  “They were an operation of five highly skilled individuals tasked with going overseas, killing or kidnapping high value targets,” says screenwriter Richard Wenk. “They are the most skilled assassins on earth. Robert McCall was a part of this team which involved four other men.  But after losing his wife, McCall decided he wanted no more of this – and when a car bomb exploded, he took the opportunity to walk away and let the world consider him dead.”
